Meeting with Photographer
Ok, so tomorrow is our meeting with the photographer. I'm really excited to see some more pictures of her work. Altho not professional, she does really good work I think. I'm trying to compile a list of pictures. I figured since most of you have been thru this, you might be able to help me figure out the ones I might be missing. Also question, how many of you have had the photographer take pictures of your whole families? Not just mothers and fathers and sisters and brothers, but like, ALL your family. I was thinking about it, but wanted to see if it's normal, or something out of the norm.
Anyway my list consists of:
Bride/Groom (obviously)
My Mom/Dad
His Mom/Dad
MOH and her husband (my sister and BIL)
My brother (usher) and his wife (my SIL)
His aunt (my bridesmaid) and his uncle (our usher)
Bridal Party (obviously)
Bride w/ Parents
Groom w/ His Parents
Bride with FIL's
Groom with FIL's
Bride/Groom w/ both sets of parents (one on each side)
Bride w/ grandparents
Groom w/grandparents
Bride with siblings (both in wedding party)
Groom with siblings (both in wedding party)
Cake Cutting
Anniversary Dance
Entrance to reception
First Dance/Mother Son Dance/Father Daughter Dance
Toasts (if we choose that's undecided yet)
Dollar Dance (VERY common in my area)
Candid shots of dancing and so forth
I can't think of anymore. Does that list seem to unreasonable? is there more you would add? Is there a favorite shot you had at your wedding? I'm just looking for ideas.
Thanks ahead of time!

My favorites are of Mike and I when we didn't know she was taking a photo. We asked for a lot of candid shots and only a handful of posed.
I also asked my Mom and my MIL to help by pointing out family members to the photographer.
We did the whole family photos right after the ceremony.
As for adding to what you already have, there are a few missing that I did for mine, and some that I forgot to tell the photog.
-Picture of our hands with the ring on
-Pictures of the bouquets
-Picture of cake before it's cut (We didn't have one, but you may want that)
-Picture of a table set-up (like the head table)
-Pictures of you getting ready/dressed

We did a "whole" family picture, too......well, my side included my two aunts and thier families.....and his side was just his siblings their spouses and kids( not aunts, uncles, and cousins)...
One of the pictures we liked were a picture with just me and my dad, me and my mom, and then Andy with just each of his parents....and we had pictures of me with the groomsmen and him with the bridesmaids....us with the pastor....
and are you including ceremony pictures.....lighting the unity candle, exchanging rings, the kiss....etc...

I don't have any more posed shots to add to you list, but I totally agree with Heather about the candid shots being my favorites.
So, make sure you ask her to see a complete album (not just a few shots from a bunch of different weddings) so you can get a feel for how good her eye is for the candid shots! They are also more difficult to get due to lighting and stuff... so it's important she be able to do them!

I really like the candids she took of us. They are some of the cutest ones!
Make sure your photographer gets your bridesmaids helping you get dressed to!
I liked all the girl's expression...there's a pic where one of my bm's thought the clasp broke off the top of my dress. It's the funniest picture!

Well the meeting with the photographer went really well last night! She came to our house and FH, my mom, FMIL and FSIL were there looking at pictures. She had a small portfolio, but like I said before, she's not "professional" so she doesn't have TONS of experience. But I liked a LOT of the work that she did show me and so did everyone else. Sooo...we booked her! I'm really excited because I got such a bargain! For $800 dollars this is what I get:
She'll be with me ALL day. She said if I get ready at 6am she'll be there at 6am if she needs to be. Of course I couldn't do something like that, but to know that's available is awesome. She said she stays a little while after all the major stuff at the reception happens to get candid's and then she usually takes off
She prints for me 350-400 pictures that she thinks are the best ones, and takes 250 of those and puts them in an album.
She puts EVERY SINGLE PICTURE she takes on CD's for me. She said she doesn't even delete the fuzzy ones. Better be safe than sorry she said. She said that normally she'll take right around 800-900 and put them on the CD's.
She signs over the rights to the photos so taht I can get them printed myself.
All that for $800 dollars!??!? She was really nice and really explained things well. Oh...and I asked her about deposit. Get this, she said that usually she asks for half of the deposit by the wedding date, and you can pay the other have (if need be) when you pick up your pictures! I thought that was totally out of the norm. But a really nice option too.
Anyway, i'm really excited!

We were in the same exact situation - photographer just starting out on her own, not a huge portfolio but the one she did have was amazing. She was with me all day and we got to keep all photos and prints. All for $800 as well.
It's a good deal girl, I'm glad you found her.
