What to Engrave inside his Wedding Band?
I'm looking at wedding bands for Will now, and I'm trying to think of what to have engraved on the inside. My ring has sentimental meaning to me (it was my Grams wedding ring) and I want his to have a little extra meaning from me on it. I asked him what he wanted, and he said I should surprise him.
I was thinking about the basics- our initials, our wedding date, etc. But then I was thinking maybe something like you and no other, or I'll love you forever and for always. But that seems a little contrived for us. So I was thinking about putting something smart-ass (which is a hallmark of our relationship) like From Your Ball and Chain, or Gotcha Now. But that just seems obnoxious.
Help! I need some suggestions, anything to get my mind thinking about some ideas.

I haven't decided what (or even IF) to have engraved inside his wedding band, but I am going to have his e-ring engraved, once we get it back (long story short, it was a half size too small, so we're waiting on the new one to be shipped... *pout*).
I'm having "I love this bar" engraved in his (ya know, the Toby Keith song). I'm NOT a country music fan by any stretch, but that song has always been "our" song, since our first date (it's a long story ).... So if you don't want to go the traditional route of initials and wedding date, you could find something (short obviously) that's personal to the two of you, be it a song or an 'inside joke,' something that will make him smile each time he sees it.
Or you could do something simple like an eternity symbol (even thought the wedding band itself represents that continuum, it's still a subtle yet deep reminder of what this marriage means to you).

dont forget, if you get it engraved, you wont be able to get it sized later so if his fingers change sizes with age, you'll have to buy new rings.
I know some people have gotten like the back of a watch engraved so that might be another option for you.

How about "If you can read this, put it back on NOW!"

I love the put it back on! idea.
I don't want something overly long if I can help it, so we can resize it later if neccessary. I used to work for a jeweler, and resizing was fine so long as there was a 'blank spot' I guess you could call it, where we could add or remove some of the gold to make it bigger or smaller.
Nee, you gave me an idea- we've kind of considered It Feels Like Home by Chantal Kreviazuk to be our song. I'll bet I could put feels like home on the inside of his ring. Hmmm....

I didn't engrave anything on DH's ring, but did get a watch engraved for him as a wedding present.
I put "te amo" (I love you in Spanish) on the back of the watch. It is simple, and meaningful because we went to Mexico for our honeymoon and are planning on learning Spanish together.

I had DH's ring engraved with just one word - Serendipity
We "re-met" serendipitously after 23 years, and the word became meaningful to the two of us.

I wish I could have gotten something put on DH's band but it's so small I don't think I could (I think it's a size 6 - it doesn't even fit my ring finger).
I do love everyone's ideas though!

I will engrave his cute nickname that is secret between us.
Do brides buy rings for FH? My fiance says he doesn't know, but men always pay everything.

Not in my world they don't, lol. I'm adament about paying my share...
Mike and I just bought our wedding bands together on the same day and put it on one bill. We both paid off that bill, but he bought my engagement ring himself (and the upgraded diamond for my last b-day.)

I just ordered his ring yesterday!
Will had never heard of a 'raspberry' (blowing air on someones skin, makes a rather disgusting sound) until he met me, because I love giving raspberries, usually on his neck. Now he gives them to me all the time, and we laugh hysterically, its pathetic.
Soo- the engraving will be Raspberries Forever 01/04/08

I was kidding, but my FH's words were real . I think there is not a concept of "who is paying" between a loving couple, because they are together as one. As you didn, we will pay everything together when our day is coming.
