Default Dark Spots

I've noticed ever since I've hit my twenties that any kind of bite or pimple (no matter its location) will leave a dark brownish/red spot that lasts for weeks on end. I don't pick at anything with the hope of avoiding these spots...but that doesn't always work. It almost seems to act like a scar...but eventually most do fade away.

Is there anything I can use to help clear up these spots? Of course I have two weeks until I'm in a wedding and I've got one on my neck and another on my chin and I don't want them in the pictures!

Help!

Hi Sparkle Sweetie,
It sounds like what happens is the pimples or bites leave a hyperpigmentation mark until it eventually fades away. Many people suffer from this, even if they leave the pimple or the bite alone.
What you should remember, is that the spots are only on so many layers of the "damaged skin". Once you have exfoliated and removed these layers, you should have mark-free skin, however you shouldn't want to exfoliate these layers all at once, that would irritate the skin too much.
Instead, I would use a scrub (such as: Burt Bee's Peach Scrub, Merle Norman Microdermabrasion scrub) or a treatment that has AHA (alpha hydroxy acids) that will exfoliate a few layers at a time. Use the scrub or treatment at night ,and make sure you apply sunscreen with SPF in the morning, as fresh exfoliated skin is very susceptible to sun damage.
Within a few days, you should see a big difference. Congratulations, and good luck!

I saw an article in Good Houskeeping that related to dark spots...would you reccomend using anything that has hydroquinone in it? They list several items with it and without it. http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/beau...age-spots-1007

I'm thinking that one of these lotions would be well worth the investment for me. Have you used any of them and reccomend a particular one?

I have to agree with you there

Even mosquito bites leave spots that seem to last forever!
