Taking care of dress
Hello. I'm new. I have no idea if this is the right place for this question. I found a dress I love and I bought it and brought it home. It's a year and a half until my wedding. A friend of mine told me I need to stuff it to keep the shape and wrap it in tissue to keep it from yellowing. I bought it from David's Bridal and they did not tell me any of this. The only thing they told me was to keep the garment bag open so it would get air. I certainly don't want my dress to turn yellow, but would it really happen in a year and a half? My dress is champaign, so it's not white white or anything. Thanks in advance for any help!

The place I ordered my dress from kept it for me, so I never had to worry about it. But, I do know that they simply kept it in the garment bag it came in.... hung in their storage.
Tissue paper is usually used post-wedding to preserve the dress.... and it has to be acid free tissue paper.
Keep it from getting damp and you should be fine... and remember to take it to be pressed and cleaned at a place that specializes in wedding gowns before your wedding.

What Margie said. It should be perfectly fine, you don't need to get it preserved for the next year and a half.

That should be fine. My dress from my first wedding was champagne colored, too. I had it thrown in my storage area and just pulled it out this weekend to make room for construction. I got married 10 years ago, and it still looks fine, even without any special care.

Welcome to Bliss! er pash, whatever it's called!
we loosely wrapped my dress in a clean white sheet. This I suppose was to keep it from getting dirty, (which is what a garmet bag is for) but also prevented it from getting all smashed up by having to stuff it in a too-small-for-it garmet bag.

I don't know but to be on the safe side, I think I would just pay the $59 at DB to have it preserved. Better safe then sorry IMO.
Welcome to Pash! (Bliss)

For the past 3 years my dress has been in a dress bag in a ceder chest. When we pulled it out a few months ago it was perfect no wrinkles or any thing. Surprised us!!! We also had white sheets covering the bag...

Thanks!
Thanks everyone for your responses. I have it wrapped in plastic and then also in a garment bag. So based on what most of you have said I will just leave it as is.
