Lip Stains?
What brands of lip stain would you reccommend looking into? My budget is getting pretty tight, so I can't spend like $50 on it even if I wanted to...
I know Revlon recently came out with one..."Just Bitten"...Know anything about this?

Hi!
Yes, lip stains are truly wonderful!! They give color, won't rub off and last pretty much all day. As for Revlon, unless you can find a 50% off sale at one of your local drugstores, I would skip on it. For the product they offer, the prices are unbelievable. You can buy a professional brand of lip stain for the same or even a cheaper price! I was blown away when I saw the prices Revlon was asking for. Here are a couple of my favorite brands and thier prices:
1) Benefit Cosmetics Benetint "Pocket Pal" $18
This is a ingenious product. Benetint is probably the world's best selling lip and cheek tint. It's made from crushed rose petals, and smell's so nice. You can build color with this product, depending how intense you want the final result to be. Added Bonus: The other side has a clear lipgloss so you can have a glossy finish to the tint OR natural depending on your mood. ( www.benefitcosmetics.com)
2) Nixie Cosmetics Natural Lipstain $14
This is a smooth, silky feeling lip stain that doesn't dry out the lips and never flakes. Like most stains, the color will last and last. They have a LARGE variety of colors from pinks to peaches, to browns and reds. ( www.nixiecosmetics.com)
3) The Balm "Stainiac" $14
The Balm makes lots of great products, and thier lip stains are no exception. While they only come in three colors, you can always build to get a more dramatic effect. ( www.sephora.com)
4) Bourjois Lip Stain Pen $15
What is unique about this stain is that is comes in a pen like applicator with a felt tip. It deposits color that is very easy to control. Available in 4 colors. ( www.sephora.com)
5) Laura Geller "Lip Stay" $13
This is a long lasting color and gloss duo. Once applied, simply wait 30 seconds for the color to set, then apply the glossy topcoat if shine is desired. ( www.sephora.com)
I hope this has helped! If you have any other questions, let me know! I'm always glad to help

I have some of that Revlon one, and I LIKE it, but it's not as long-lasting as I'd like. I'd go with the Benetint... seriously a superior product.

ok, make-up dummy here... what on earth is a "lip stain"? Does it actually change the color of your lips? What do you mean by you can "build up" the color? Can you combine colors?? I HATE the feel of lipstick/lip gloss, so does lip stain feel more natural/less "sticky"?

Yeah, I think it's more of a staining liquid than a lipstick or gloss.

By putting on mor than one layer, you can make the color of the stain more vibrant or darker depending on the color.

I don't see why not, although I'm not positive on this one!

Yep! It "stains" your lips! Sometimes people complain about certain brands feeling too dry, so it'd be good to have chapstick or something moisturizing handy in case I think.

I used the CoverGirl version for my wedding and I've worn it a few times since then. It's ok, but definitely want to keep the moisturizing stick handy as it tends to get a little dry.
And Julz, it doesn't feel like lipstick at all.

I know there was a little confusion regarding the lip stain, so here is a short run down on the basics!
1) lip stains are just that. They "stain" your lips whatever color the stain happens to be. It actually looks like you don't have any product on your lips. With "red" lip stains, they mimic the look of having just eaten a cherry popsicle.
2) to get a more dramatic effect, or just a darker concentration of color, you can apply as many layers as you want, and you just wait for each layer to dry before applying more.
3) It's hard to mix colors unless they are in the same color family. For instance, Nixie cosmetics has red, pink, brown, purple and orange color family stains. You could mix a red and pink, or a pink and purple...but it would be hard to mix pink and orange. You might invent some really wild color...or not. That's the beauty of experimentation!
4) Depending on the company and the consistency of the lip stain, it may or may not be moisturizing. You may have to apply a clear (or colored) lipgloss on top of the stain to prevent your lips from drying out. Not all brands require this extra step though.
5) Big Bonus of Lip Stains: They won't come off on your FH (or FP) when you kiss them!

Cool! That was my next question. I assume then, it can withstand eating and drinking as well??

Yup That is the beauty of lipstains. When I was testing lipstains to review, I put them all over my hand to see if they would withstand a workout, a shower, cleaning, etc. Those guys stayed on my hand for days! They really will stay. And the more you layer them the better.
