3 girls 1 guy versus 2 girls 2 guys
So I'm finally actually thinking seriously about bridesmaids/bridesmen. At this point I have asked my maid of honour, my man of honour and one bridesmaid. I have one more slot (DJ has a best man and three groomsmen chosen, but not asked yet). I was originally planning on asking a friend of mine from high school, but I'm no longer sure. We've drifted apart a little in the recent past, due to hugely busy schedules and some bad decisions she's made.
Instead, I'm thinking of asking my best friend from university, and my Pickton buddy, Matt. That would have me with two guys and two girls, and DJ with four guys. I want my best friends there with me, but I don't know how it would work to have in essence, seven guys and three girls in the wedding party (me and DJ being included in that tally).
What do you ladies think?

1) You don't have to have even numbers--but it sounds like you want to have another person because you want the person, not because even numbers is a big deal, so I'm just throwing that out there generally.
2) I really do think you should have whoever you want and feel closest to standing up there with you. If the guys are uncomfortable walking two together coming out, have them alternate sides and walk one at a time. Otherwise they can walk two together--no need to link arms, of course.
Presumably the people there know you and DJ, and while a few folks might disapprove of your nontraditional choice, who cares? Your friends and family will understand that these are the people who mean the most to you.

Honestly I think it's a bit unusual, but only because I haven't ever seen that many guys on a Bride's side. But if that's who you want, go for it. Would the guy from Pickton be comfortable with it? I had one of my best guy friends do a reading, but that's only because I had too many damn women on my side. I would have had him next to me in a minute.

I've seen it a few times and honestly I just assume that whomever it is standing there is someone the bride is really close to. So I say if that's what you want and he's ok with it, do it.

H, I think he'll be fine with it. He's my best friend from university, so it's not like he's a random dude. I'm going to swing the idea by him tomorrow during our lunch break and see what he says. I think the sheriffs would frown upon me talking about my wedding during the actual proceedings .

Since I stood up for my best guy friend, I don't see it as unusual.
I say do what every YOU want. It is your wedding and make it a day you will remember and not look back on wondering what if?!
