Default Bridesmaid Gifts

I just purchased gift certificates today for my BM's to get their hair done.
I'm tying it to a pair of old navy flip flops and putting it in a little tote bag.

I was just wondering what the best gift was that you've recieved while being a BM or what you gave your BM's.

(I know all gifts should be appreciated, however some are just better than others* lol.)

Well, in my later years (i.e. old enough to really know anything about weddings) I've not been in one other than my own and the one I'm participating in now.

I gave my girls a garter and a fabric memo board that I made myself to match each girl's personality. (I think they kicked butt, and I know for a fact they all use them.)

The wedding that's coming up the bride got us jewelry....I don't know what it looks like yet, but I know that's what she got us.

I got my girls, a Lia Sophia necklace, some B & B Works shower gel, lotion and body puff, a "101 things to do with a bm dress" (just for a ha ha type thing) and for the guys we got them a personalized money clip.

The younger girls got a B & B works bath and lotion set, a coloring book on being a flower girl and jewelry to match their dresses.

All my girls are getting necklace/earring sets, a tote that my mom and I made for each girl, "gellin" insoles for their shoes (they're flat, but this'll make them that much more comfy), a personalized blanket (just a little fleeze one), and a handwritten "thank you for being in my wedding" note.

BTW: I have 8 girls.

I supplied all dresses, so they got those and I gave candle holders and picture frames (with celtic knots all around them).

I'm giving mine necklaces that I made and jewelry/trinket boxes. My FGs are getting little bracelets and jewelry boxes with the twirling ballerinas in them.

For my sister's wedding, she gave us baskets with a frame, a necklace, and some B&B works stuff. I think that's it - it was almost 9 years ago, I don't really remember. That's the only wedding I've been in.

I've only gotten jewelry or gloves for being a bridesmaid, and in all instances it was pretty cheap stuff that I wouldn't wear again (in one case it was PLASTIC!)

When I was a FG in my older sister's wedding, she got me a nice carved wooden jewelry box, which I still use...

(Margie stop reading...)
.
.
.
I am hiring a massage therapist to come to our bridesmaid's luncheon the day before and give everyone a 1/2 hour massage. I made them personalized jewelry boxes that I'm sending out with their "will you be a bridesmaid" letter, and I think I may have a friend make jewelry to match the dresses.

I was thinking of getting each girl a personalized wine/cheese tote ($25) and a bottle of wine... except one of the BM's is only 17

I got all of the girls a silver (plated) jewelry box with their initial engraved on top....they were little (4x4), but they were antique looking with claw feet and filigree on the sides....I also gave everyone a personalized bottle of wine.

I did buy the jewelry that the girls wore with thier BM dresses as well as their shoes, and we had a spa day the day of the wedding where we all got our hair done, manicures and pedicures and had lunch at the salon...I also paid for that, I don't really count those as their gifts per se...much more so that because all of my BM came from out of town and had airfare or gas to buy, they all bought a $200 dress, and all but one had to stay in a hotel for two nights (my MOH stayed at my house with me)....it was an extra way to help with the expense.

I've been a BM nine times....yes nine....in all of those weddings we were given matching jewelry to wear with our BM dresses, which is fine because it was one less expense, but I have to say, I'm not a costume jewelry person...on a daily basis I wear my diamond earrings and my wedding rings, that's it...I have a few pairs of chandelier earrings I wear when feeling funky...otherwise nada. I have never worn that jewelry other than the day I was required to.

I remember a lovely bride i made invites for. She was lovely in everyway, but i could never work out why she thought what she was giving her BM as thank you gifts, was such a good idea. She asked me to make some thank you cards for them which she was popping in a little bag full of sweets her and her BM used to love when they were all younger. Lovely idea i know, but to go in with the card she was putting a bill for each BM dress and shoes!!!! She said they had faffed about so much with colours and styles that she thought they should pay for their own now! Not sure what happened

I'm giving my BMs engraved champagne flutes, and putting jewelry sets inside them and wrapping them with colored cellophane & ribbon.

In the wedding I was just in, the bride gave us these memory foam flip flop type slippers at a pre-wedding sleepover in addition to our jewelry sets. It was really sweet.

Right now I plan on getting BM's engraved champagne flutes and i'm getting a personalized tote with their name on it, filling it with wedding essentials like tylenol, hand sanatizer, lotion, all that good stuff and then buying slippers (black probably) for them to all wear during the reception. I've never been in a wedding so I thought this was nice. Depending on finances at the time...I also thought about getting certificates to get their nails done if they so choose too. I'm not sure though. GM are getting engraved mugs. FH wants to give them to his GM at his bachelor party filled with condoms...beacuse not a single GM is married. LOL

HA! You're GM's should get together with my BM's - all our GM's are married (well those that are old enough) and most of the BM's are single!

We're only having one attendant apiece, and FH already knows what he's getting his best man.

I of course, have NO idea what to get my maid of honor. And we're on an incredibly tight budget so I'm trying to come up with good ideas. Any suggestions?

You could do a photo/memory collage on posterboard or maybe even a cork board (so she could use it for a bulletin board if she wanted?) filled with pics of the two of you and other cut-outs or trinkets that trigger fun memories

For a wedding I was in last year the bride sent us a little list of questions (like our favorite fast food, sit down restaurant, B&B scent, etc). She bought each of us some super cute tote bags with our names on them and put "A Few of My (and Your) Favorite Things." It had her favorite book (The Notebook), her favorite movie (My Best Friend's Wedding), her favorite aromatherapy body wash, and a bunch of stuff we had listed on our set of questions. It was awesome cuz it was personal both ways. I want to do something similar for mine.
