Default Colored vs Black and White

No I'm not a photographer but still that doesn't mean I don't know anything about what's good to look at in a set of wedding pictures. Just recently I was shocked seeing a set of wedding photos in black and white hues! To all expert photographers here do you think black and white is OK for wedding pictures?

Many photographers out there offer B&W packages and I know several photographers that shoot only B&W. It's neither "shocking" nor outdated, it's just a personal preference and still considered a classic. I smiled at the "hues of black and white" comment as black and white by definition is devoid of color and hues (although my color blind husband may have a different perspective)! I'm sure the couples that chose to have all their photos in B&W are thrilled with their images and if it strikes you as odd, I'm sure glad that's not the option you picked! Marci Curtis

I personally love black and white pictures, especially in weddings. There are things and "feelings" you just can't capture with color that you can with B&W. B&W also takes a trained person to use it correctly so it's not something to scoff at. Just my

It's all a matter of personal taste and for you to say that B&W wedding photos are not good to look at is kind of rude, sorry. You may certainly have your own preference, but so does everyone.

I think B&W photos, wedding or otherwise, are beautiful and classic and I would never judge a couple for choosing what looks good to them. It is their wedding and how they choose to remember isn't really anyone else's call.

i knew a bride who had gotten a bad sunburn and requested that all the shots be taken in b&w. her photos turned out perfect, even though she was bright pink!

I'm a very amateur photographer but I love shooting in black and white. I"m also requesting that many of our wedding photos be in black and white. The great thing with the digital age is that all photos can be offered in B&W or in color. It helps with the different tastes in art for each person.

Personally, I also love B&W shots. We didn't want ALL b&w, and because our photog shot with digital (color) he just gave us all the files, and I've had some printed in b&w that look lovely. It can give a very classic feel, or an "arty" feel, especially with some detail shots that use unusual angles, etc.

Obviously, if you don't like b&w, don't get them. It's certainly easy enough to find a photographer to shoot only in color.

A large percentage of my photos will be in black and white, since I prefer the classic look of them. This could be in part because of my job, since newspaper photos are almost invariably black and white. In fact, my favourite photo of my fiance and I is a black and white shot.
I think black and white photos can demonstrate considerable emotion, maybe due to the fact that there is no colour to distract from it.

I guess you guys are right. What I was thinking actually was that when my pictures are in B&W it seems that they already look old and worn out; whereas colored ones look new.

I wanted so much to preserve the memories of my wedding day and so as much as possible I want to avoid B&W pictures unless they're really something that evokes true emotion.

My photographer took alot of digital pictures for us, so some photos could be black and white with the touch of a button....or we could say, "can you show us this in color"

And I *love* our black and white pictures!!!

There's nothing wrong with using B&W pictures for weddings and plan on doing so myself. As has been stated before, it's all just a matter of preference. If you're still a little apprehensive, you should just stick with colored photos? Goodluck!

I think I would like a mix of black and whites and colors!!! I really love B&Ws though. Have you ever seen the black and whites with just a splash of color? Like the whole picture is B&W but the boquet is red. It looks really good if its done right.
