Veil Styles
Ok, just wondering if veil length is more of a personal preference, or formality choice. I'm just curious b/c I'm intrigued by the floor length veils. I am making my own, or if not making it myself (even though I can) I'll be buying one at Hobby Lobby or Wal-Mart and adding decorations to it (rhinestones, anyone? ) I have plenty of tulle at my disposal, so I'm just curious about lengths.
I'm also not putting a layer over my face...that would drive me nuts. So planning on just having a single layer. I will also be outside weather permitting, so I was thinking that a floor length one wouldn't blow as easy in the breeze. Or maybe it will....have any of you ladies had any experience in this?

I like the ones that are shoulder length... that's what I had with my first wedding. It was 2 layers and made out of a shawl that came with my dress. It was detachable so I didn't wear it at the reception. I really liked it. Here's what it looked like:
This was the headpiece... best picture I can find:

I chose not to wear a veil, and instead wore a crystal in my hair that matched those on my dress. Swarvoski? Something like that....

Mine is one layer right below the elbow. Here is a picture.
I wanted one that was really long but I didn't want to cover the bead work my mother did. So I had to settle with this. I really like it!!!

Lj, I really like your headpiece. Where did you get it at? And your veil all together looks very pretty.

Not sure if I'll have a veil, but I like the elbow length with a shoulder length blusher.

I was against veils at first. I thought it would only get in the way and it wasn’t a necessity. Then I went to try on dresses and they kept putting the veil on to “complete” the look. Now I’m not so sure about going without.
I think I’m going to have one that is one layer and either shoulder length or elbow length for the ceremony. Then I can remove the veil for the reception so it doesn’t get in the way and get caught when people give hugs and whatnot.

Originally, I planned to wear my veil over my hair but I changed it the day of at the salon. My Mom made it exactly the length I wanted it to be if it were about my curls but I liked it better under.

I got the headpiece off ebay. Where else I'm the ebay queen. Mom made the veil part. she took the material and added a thin border by hand...

Mine was fingertip length.. I liked it because it was soft and flowey and sheer enough you could see through it and see the detail of my dress.

I think it's a mix of personal preference AND gown style. My dress is short sleeved and very simple so I'm going with a yet-to-be-found shoulder length veil. I'm a no fuss gal too so I just want it simple.
