E-ring for HIM....?
This comment made me realize maybe we're not the only ones!!

Now that my ring has been selected, we've been frantically searching for HIS e-ring... we already know what wedding band we'll order for him (Scott Kay "Vintage" 8mm in 19K white gold), but we would like a symbol of the engagement for him as well... something a bit more casual, less ornate (and something he won't be worried about getting scratched up when he's on the bike, at work, etc...)
So have any of you other ladies gotten your FH's/DH's e-rings? Every jewelry store we've been to, we're met with surprise and shock at the very concept!!

That was the exact same response we got!
I think it's still pretty uncommon, but we were both happy with the concept.
We got a stainless steel band, it's worn well, and like I said, he wears it on his right hand now.

We like the concept as well.... The responses we get are funny though. Younger women think it's a cool idea (we get a lot of "Awwwwww...." with the headtilt), but it seems the older (and presumably more traditional) the salesperson, the more befuddled they are!
We've been looking at titanium, tungsten carbide (though I think I've ruled that out... just not safe), and very simple white gold flat bands. And he'll do the same -- move it to his right hand once we're married.

Well it is lovely!
The great thing is because it's not a typical "engagemnt ring" you don't have to pay the totally inflated prices either

The most irritating thing of planning our wedding was when salespeople acted so surprised or confused when we were going with something different. How do they not realize that behaving that way isn't conducive to a sale? errgghhhhhh!!
I hope you tell the next person who acts that way to shove it

OH, I went through that..... we went to Jared's (where previously we'd have a great experience) with the idea of them ordering a sapphire to be set in an existing bridal set they had (without a center stone)...

I obviously missed this thread when it was first posted.
DJ has an engagement ring of sorts. It's a silver Celtic knotted ring that I bought him in Ireland 3 years ago. His real wedding band will be white gold (probably), but I couldn't afford anything more expensive than silver at that time because I wasn't working. He loves it, so that's all that matters to me.

I had bought my ex fiance an e-ring too. It was white gold with 2 rows of tiny diamonds (it wasnt as flashy as it sounds). He loved it.
In my culture, you wear the e-ring on the right hand and move it to the left when you get married.

We went Celtic for him as well. He's just always loved Celtic designs, and when I found this one, he fell in love with it. We've only found this particular deisgn one other place (and it was SLIGHTLY different). Even our jeweler couldn't find a source for it, so I like that we won't be seeing it everywhere (and they're all handmade, made to order).

Where are you from originally? I have read some articles about customs regarding men's e-rings in (I think) Norway and Denmark, and I think they do the same thing.
He's planning on wearing his on his left hand, then when we get married, he'll move it to the right, or just wear it as a casual ring on weekends, etc...

I'm Armenian.
Technically this is the way it works. Guys family comes over and asks the parents for her hand. If they agree, then thats like a "promise." A guy can give her a piece of jewelry or not, its up to him.
For an official engagement, she gets an ering and he gets the wedding band, priests prays over it and they wear it on the right hand. At the wedding, they move it to the left. Plus she gets the wedding band.
I always thought it was unfair for the girl to get 2 rings and him just one, so i bought my ex one.

Ooh, that ring is gorgeous Neebelung! I should show it to DJ, since he wants a Celtic knotted band for his wedding ring as well. He may not look Irish, but apparently he's assimilating into my culture quite well .

Oh I love that!!! Very nice tradition...
It is kinda unfair that we get two rings, very true... and he's being so cute about it... he WANTS to wear an e-ring... not like I'm trying to stake out my territory, but he likes the statement it makes.

We should have it in a few weeks (we didn't KNOW when we ordered it that it takes several weeks to get) and let you know how we like it, etc... so far, their customer service has been very good though... we put a little "please rush!" comment in when I ordered it, and the next day they called to ask if we needed it by a certain date (i.e. wedding date)... we didn't want to mess up anyone ELSE'S wedding date by pushing ours, so we just explained it was an e-ring, but I was still impressed they called so quickly.

My FH has one. We didn't really discuss him having e-ring, but since we got engaged and started trying to figure out what we wanted for wedding rings, he has decided that he loves the tungsten rings, as do I, but he also really wants a platinum band with diamonds in it. He couldn't decide which he would rather have, so I decided to buy him a tungsten ring to wear for now, and we'll get him the w-band he wants later. Then he'll wear the e-ring on his right hand, and he'll have both rings he loved! He got a little grief about it from the guys at work at first, but he didn't care. And he doesn't wear it all the time, so it's not a big deal. But he loves it anyway.

Oh wow, that's gorgeous!!
There are just about NO pics of his w-ring online... It's a Scott Kay, and I've got the little catalogue from the jeweler, but no pics online.
