Frequent Flyers!!!
So i know this is nothing wedding related, but ihave a question for any travelers out there. If i bought a round trip ticket, do i have to use the "to" ticket in order to use the "return" ticket? The reason i ask is her dad wants to come and get Chloie for a week until i get out there and then she will fly back with me. But i dont think it will work. I think unless she uses the first ticket they will cancel the rest??? I already bought and paid for the ticket, so no changes can be made. Anybody know??? Please help!! Thank you all.

I'm pretty sure if you bought the ticket as a round trip ticket, you have to use the "to" first... b/c if you don't fly the first leg, they will assume you didn't make the trip and cancel the return leg. But if you bought it as two indivudal one-way tix (like Orbitz or SW sometimes does), you might be able to do it.
You should call the airline and check on it's specific policies. You can most likely change the ticket for a nominal fee ($75) plus the difference in the fares (or a refund, if it's less). You should be able to do this, even if you bought and "pre-paid" through Orbitz (or some such travel site)... I actually just got an email from them today about it!
Oh, and keep in mind that the sooner you call the cheaper the flight will be!!! So don't wait until the last minute!

Thats what i thought. Well our flight is in two weeks, so i am pretty sure it would be very expensive. Her dadjust called to today, and i tried to make it work but i dont think it will. I bought the tickets thru cheap tickets. I guess he will just have to wait and see her when we get there. If he is staying longer maybe he could just bring her back after i bring her out there!
Anyways thanks for you help.

Hey there - yep they would definitely cancel your return flight if you didnt take the 'to' flight! I book alot of travel for my work and have asked this question before. Especially if its a cheapy too they wont budge on it!

Yeah so i called the airline today and it would cost 401$ with all there fees to switch it to a one way ticket. That would mean i would end up paying 801 for just her one way ticket!!! There is no way this can happen. Well i tried. Thanks for your input ladies.!

Montanabride, that really smarts and I know you can't have anyone else use the "to" portion of the roundtrip.
