Beach-themed Centerpiece
Materials: - Flat glass bowl
- Sand
- Seashells of different types and sizes (including a
- Quahog (sp?) - giant clamshell)
- Bear grass
- Gold marker (okay, any color will do)
Instructions:
We collected the sand and most of the shells ourselves off various beaches. The more decorative ones, we cheated and got those from a craft store (along with the bear grass). The ones that came off the beach were soaked in diluted bleach (so they don't smell of dead fish), rinsed and left out to dry. Anyway, after the sand was in the bowl, we lined quarter-sized
shells along the edges, arranged a few larger ones on top and sprinkled some tiny shells. I used the gold marker to write the table name on the Quahog and had it sticking up in the back. Behind it I arranged a backdrop of bear grass.
The one in these pictures were for the bride/groom table. The others were in wider bowls, and the shells were more random (as opposed to the carefully arranged pairs you see here). Various guests made off with them already, so I don't have a picture of them.
