DIY Project: Cake Cardbox

Cake Cardbox

Materials:

• Three cardboard hat boxes of varying sizes from your local craft store (you can make more or less tiers as you wish)
• Exacto knife
• Hot Glue Gun
• Pencil
• Craft spray paint
• Various ribbon, raffia, tulle and buttons for decorations

Instructions:

Start with largest box upside down on your work space , place next largest upside down on the box already on your work space. Trace around the smaller hat box with the pencil. Use the exacto knife to cut out the inside of your pattern about ½” from your pencil tracing. Place a thick line of Hot Glue along the traced circle and place the traced hat box on it (upside down) Don’t worry about glue showing, you can cover it with your decorations. Repeat the above steps with the top tier, cutting a slit in the bottom of the box to insert the cards. Once glue has dried, paint the shape whichever color you choose and decorate. We kept the lid on the bottom tier of the cake camouflaged with tulle so that the cards could be removed without destroying the boxes.
