flower girl baskets
I picked up the most beautiful baskets for our flower girls, they are ivory and sage green they ae like no other baskets I have seen before. I don't know if I should have them filled with fresh lilacs picked the morning of the wedding or do silk flowers, or should I fill them out and have the girls pass out hershey kisses as the go down the eisle. Any thoughts?
update: Finally mangaed to do something with them!!!!
this was the before

If you're doing your ceremony inside, check with the venue first. A lot of venues won't let you put down real petals because they stain.

I think silk flowers is usually a safe idea then you don't have to worry about staining. I've seen this alot and it's still very pretty.

Some places won't let you drop ANYTHING because of cleanup and/or safety issues (petals-real or silk-can be slippery, especially to women in heels), so check first with your venue.

If they're easy to sweep up, I don't think the lilacs should be a problem. But, as the others said, check with the venue (I found out 30 min. before my ceremony my venue won't allow bubbles - that's not the time to find out stuff like that).
Those baskets sound interesting! Can you post a picture?

Thanks for your replies to my post, I should have been more clear. Sorry. I wouldn't want them to throw the lilacs down the eisle. They are too big for that. What I was trying to say, was that the baskets themselves are beautiful and I don't want to take away from that by assing anything tacky. Too many flowers may do that. So perhaps by having them filled with the lilacs wouldn't be too overpowering or by handing out the Hershey's Kisses that would be okay too.
I am hoping that perhaps someone would have an idea that would be just simple yet elegant. Maybe ivy??? I s that too takcky?
HELP !!! Desperate for ideas.
