Girls, What should I do?
Alright Ladies, So I got a call this week it was from a place called Dynamic Images. When I was at the Bridal fair in Feb I entered a contest with these guys! (Hopeing to win a free wedding package) Anywh, I won $500.00 off any package. This is all fine and dandy but we weren't getting a photographer in the first place because the budget doesn't allow!
we're supposed to meet with them today @ 4, Do you think we should go?
I know we don't really have the extra money for it!!!
Help?!?!?!?!

I will say that having photographs was hugely important to us and that the shots friends took do not compare to our professional proofs, but I'd also say that if you already wrote it out of your budget, don't do it. It will still be a huge amount of money even with the $500 off.

Our photo package was $1000 which I didn't think was too bad. Maybe they could make an arrangement with you to do payments and hold the pics as collateral until you can have it paid in full. That way you would have prof. pics, and it won't break the bank in the process. They will (if they agree to a payment plan) expect a deposit but if you could swing that I would consider it.
If you meet with them does that automatically lock you into a contract of sorts? Or can you meet with them, see what they say and then decide?

If there is anyway you can afford a professional photographer, I would do it! My photographer was 1500 dollars and she is really, really good. You will have these photos for the rest of your life. Snapshots just don't do the day justice.
I would at least go to the meeting and see what is offered.

I agree with at least meeting with them to find out what kind of price it would end up being even though it isn't in the budget I would find out if there was a payment plan or something. I think it would be worth it in the long run. Find out about locations too. I saw some fantastic wedding photos taken by some old columns like the old Roman type, just north of the stampede grounds across from Humpty's on Mcleod trail. The pictures turned out wonderful, and who would have thought there would be such an awesome spot to have them done. There are also some neat ruins on the other side closer to the saddledome in Vic Park. Some photographers may know of these spots. But when I saw you were from Calgary I thought I would share the idea with you, just in case.
Good luck in whatever you may choose.

You know hon, I'm with CW on this one. You may get $500 off, but I guarantee you that you'll end up spending double that. Our photog was $800 and that included EVERYTHING - the full day AND all of the proofs to do with as I wish. If they're offering you something like that, then you can't beat it. But I'll bet if they're offering $500 off, their minimum package will be no less than $1500 - NOT including the photos you want printed.

Yeah! I Agree with you and CW to Heather!!! I just know we don't have that kind of money!!!!
Dave's Aunt in Switzerland used to do photography in switzerland! She said she would be more than happy ot take our pictures!
Thanks for all the advice girls I really appreciate it! I don't think I will go!
The other thing is, We can't leave and "think about it" we have to make a decision there. So that sucks! Thanks again!

I had a decent amateur and a photojournalist friend that did ours. Right now it might seem like the world will end if you don't have pro shots, but pictures can and do fade with time, and what I have discovered is that after nearly 3 years, my priorities with regards to pictures have changed. If that makes sense. If your budget doesn't allow for it I am with CW and Heather on it. What's more important are that you have memories. And even $500-1000 for a wedding package could do a lot to help you with expenses after the wedding. Also I did my brother's wedding pics and when we got them developed the person who processed them said that our picture quality and the shots we took were worth 1500.00 (he and his wife did wedding pictures professionally), so an amateur can get good shots too.

LOL. She was recommended to us by someone who had used her previously. Her package was great because she had just started her own business and wanted as much independant experience as she could find. She had worked for another photog for about 8 years and finally broke out on her own.
