Default FOB tux

does the father of the bride usually wear a tux like the rest of the party or a nice suit? I think my dad will look so handsome the tux i picked out but he'd rather get a suit. Im sure a suit would be fine and all im just wondering what the usual is

In my experience the FOB wears a tux, as well. I suppose he could wear what he feels most comfortable in, but since you're wanting him to wear a tux, you have standard protocol to back up your argument!

My dad wore a tux, but it didn't match the groomsmen (he owns a tux; the groomsmen had to rent).

I think that as long as it's a REALLY nice suit, and the COLOR at least matches, then let him wear the suit. We let the MOBs wear what they want; why not let the FOB wear what he wants? As long as he doesn't look criminally underdressed, it will be fine.

Of the weddings I've been to, I've seen both. I think a nice suit would be fine.

I purchased my father a suit a few years ago. To be honest I bought him one when I thought I was getting married b-4. He has never wore it and I had really for got about it till my mother said something. When I ask him what he wanted to wear he said "I didn't save that suit for nothing" He also I knew one day u would get married...

yeah I think i will give him the choice. I know he will pick out something gorgeous and appropriate for a suit if thats the route he takes. He's been in a few weddings the last few years and cringes at the idea of another tux. lol
