Default New ideas for the bouquet toss?

I am at a bit of a loss on what to do for my wedding for the bouquet toss. We will only have about 3 single women at the wedding because everyone else is married. I do not want to just go without the toss (because it is special), but I was wondering if the catching of the bouquet could mean something else besides "You are the next person to get married". Any ideas?

Great question!

You can re-define the bouquet toss any way you wish -- making sure that the emcee explains the new meaning to your guests. While many brides and grooms have made a presentation of the bouquet to the couple who has been married longest, or to the couple who introduced them, there's still some bouquet-flinging going on...

Here are some ideas:

* Ask for ALL of the ladies to join you on the dance floor for a dance (choose a song that you love, like Aretha Franklin's 'Respect' or some other song that's a hit at weddings), and then halfway through, have the emcee announce that you're going to throw your bouquet to bring good luck to the one who catches it.
* Or, the meaning could be, 'the one who catches it will soon have a great romantic vacation in the future, just like your honeymoon.'
* Or how about this, "This bouquet is a symbol of abundance, and the bride considers herself quite abundant in the love of her family and friends. When you catch the bouquet, it's a sign of even more abundance to come for you."
* The catcher is named 'Party Queen,' complete with a toy tiara from the party supply shop. (Very fun if Grandma catches it!)

Another fun twist: gather all of the grandmothers onto the dance floor, and have them catch the bouquet for luck, health and prosperity. That's completely different than what's usually done, and they find it a lot of fun.

If you have a lot of pregnant guests, they can each choose a non-pregnant friend (for safety reasons) to get in position to catch the bouquet, and that will symbolize an easy, quick labor.

Gather all the little girls onto the dance floor and toss the bouquet to them, with a little prize for the 'winner.' This is a good one to use a breakaway bouquet that splits into 8 or so separate hand-tied flower sections.

I'm sure others on this board have a few ideas to share....
