Coasters as Wedding Favors

Materials

•Resin
•Catalyst
•Molds (we used plastic take-out soup containers)
•Sand dollars
•Gold pen
•Tiny seashells
•Off-white organza
•Spray adhesive
•Scissors

Instructions

Before DH even started the coasters, I took the sand dollars and wrote out names and date in gold pen. Then he mixed up the resin and catalyst according to their directions and poured an inch-deep layer on the molds. As it started to congeal, he placed a sand dollar in the center and some tiny shells around the edge. As that set, he poured another layer of resin/catalyst on top. He was able to do four at a time. Because of the chemicals involved, he had to do it outside, which meant he couldn't do it if it was too hot, humid, windy or rainy, so he was cranking them out on weather-perfect days. Anyway, once they were all hardened, he sprayed adhesive on the bottom, covered in organza and trimmed around the edges.
