Finally
I finally got FH to agree on a place to have the wedding/reception. We will be having it at one of the hotels here in town. For a full days rental and full kitchen it is only going to cost 150.00. She even told me that I could have it the evening before for setting up and rehearsal for free. I am so happy. I have it booked all i have to do is figure out if I want them to put something on the marquise. What do you think? Should I not put anything. Put McCarty-McCormick wedding. Congrats Matt and Steph. Ideas please!!!
The minister is still up in the air. We have talked to several but none of them will marry us unless we move into seperate places.
Our other idea is Justice of the Peace. What do you all think.

 YAY!
I would put Congrats Matt and Steph on the Marquise.
Why won't any preacher marry you if you live together? Talk about old-school religion. Is there any way one of you can use a relative or friends address and pretend like you don't live together for the time being?

None of our families will let us do that. Becuase they don't agree with the preachers. Which neither do we. The main reason we got was just because it isn't christian like. What hippocryts.

I don't think I could lie to a minister. I know he is no different then we are but still I don't think I could live with it. Keep looking call the court house there might be a judge that will do it for a fee.
Con grads on finding a place. ...

Hmmmm. That's ironic. They won't marry you because you're "living in sin," and yet by them NOT marrying you they are forcing you to continue living in sin. Oooookaaaaay.....
Well, ASIDE from that, I'm glad you two found a place!

agree with margie--Congrats Matt & Steph
I'm glad to hear you finallly decided on a location; only 3 months to go girl! Have you started on the invitations?
You should probably consider a JOP to conduct the ceremony, or you could always have a friend get ordained on the online too.
Have you booked anything else yet? Photographer? cake lady? caterer? florist?

Ugh, I hate hearing stuff like that. I guess we do things differently on the East Coast. It shouldn't be anyone's job to "clean up" before they can be served by the church. That's the opposite of grace. I'm really sorry, Steph, in as much as I can apologize for my fellow ministers.

I am trying to find the laws on the JOP for Oklahoma, having some trouble with that one. I have the cake lady booked. We are not doing a full dinner Matts family is going to help with a few appetizers as will my family. I am trying to find a place to order fake flowers online. That is where I am. OH and after 6 weeks of debate matt decided on a best man!!! FINALLY!!!

I don't know any help would be appreciated. Which would be easier with the amount of time I have.

I didn't see anything where it says he can't perform outside the courthouse. I guess I will just have to have matt talk to the judge tomorrow at work.

We were married by a retired judge (California). I would use a retired judge again in a heartbeat.

Try the Unitarian church for a minister, the living together thing isn't an issue for them. You don't have to be Unitarian to be married by them either, they pretty much embrace all Christian religions.

We don't have any Unitarian Churchs around here that I know of. They are all JW, Christain, Baptist, Catholic or Lutheran. So right now It is either move out or use JOP.

Great news on the venue (& the price!) and on getting your FH to agree to it My FH took *forever* to ask his best man too! Finally asked him 6months after I asked my MOH!
