Default How do I find a make-up artist?

I would like to get professional help with my wedding make-up, but I don't know where to look. I live in a small town, no where near New York or LA
However, there are a few local beauty colleges (though I thought they only did hair).

Any suggestions on where to look for a make-up artist to help me out? I really want someone who knows how to "minimize" the amount of make-up I have to wear - I'm terrified of getting someone who only knows how to turn me into themselves or who will make me look like a hooker!

Haha, finding a makeup artist can be daunting AND scary!
What I suggest is doing a google search for "bridal makeup artist, PA" or the name of your city and see what comes up. There SHOULD be some websites that come up. Look at thier portfolios (or if they have pictures) and see if you like any of them. If you do, call to book an preview and see if they listen to your needs. If you don't like what they do or if there is no one in your town, look for bridal makeup artists in the largest city closest to you. If you STILL find no one, go to different beauty salons in your area, ask for a price list and if they have any pictures of recent brides. If you find a couple that you like, book a preview and see what happens. Lastly, if you don't find anyone using those methods, as a last resort you can always go to the makeup counters at your local department store and pick a girl whose makeup you like and ask her to do something similar for you but in colors that compliment your features. Best of luck on your search, and update us if you find someone!
