Navy flowers???
I need some advise on what to do for flowers with navy and ivory colors. I have seen pictures of navy flowers but not sure if they are real or silk. I am getting married at an Arboretum so I cannot have silk flowers.
Anybody know of any flowers that are navy (and real). I would love to have navy and ivory flowers but not sure if it's even possible.

Not sure why you can't use silk flowers even if you're in an arboretum? But anyway, I can't think off-hand of any navy flowers, but you could also use flowers in various shades of blue with ivory, and they'd look lovely with the navy.

We were specifically told by the Arboretum that we could not use silk flowers. I would hate to put something together only to have them taken away and be left with nothing.
Thanks for the feedback.

Hydreangea (sp) comes in shades of blue. I believe you can also find blue roses that have been dyed...but blue flowers as a whole are kind of hard to come by. They tend to have a purplish hue to them as well.
I think that you could use ivory/cream colored flowers and use something like poms for accents.

Welcome to Pash!
You can get roses dyed nearly any color. Here is a place that sells blue ones. If you scroll down, you'll see them -- not sure if they're quite navy, as navy blue is very dark but they are darker than hydrangea. HTH!

There are Blue Roses that have been hybrid in Holland, you'd have to ask around at florists to see if they can get them. They are REALLY BLUE. They're expensive though, like $8 per rose.

Lobelia comes in a really dark blue, but my favourite would be thistles
ETA: I've gone hunting for navy blue flowers... The nearest I've found would be "Lobelia Blue Moon" See link: http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?im...%3Den%26sa%3DN
I personally would either have that mixed with cream/white roses or peonies... Or just cream/white flowers with the navy ribbon binding them

OK I just saw this on another forum...
I'd consider doing all ivory flowers, too. My cousin used white and navy, but her bouquet was white with blue delphinium....and the delphinimum photographed horribly. It looked fabulous in person, but the pictures came out all wrong. I'm using sapphire and emerald as my colors.....sapphire blue table linens and green and white flowers......the dark table linen contrasts just enough and still photographs well.
and this one too...
While I'm sure that you want your flowers to stand out against your gown, you should most likely go with an ivory flower or maybe even a secondary color like light blue or pink. A friend of mine is a florist and told me that navy blue flowers are like ink spots or black holes when photographed. I'd look into it a little more, but just as a little heads up... Ooh, but an ivory bouquet with all types of flowers like cala lillies and roses and such would be so elegant and beautiful.
What if that's true & the navy really doesn't photograph well That's maybe why I can't find many bouquets with dark blue flowers!
Anyway, I'd maybe just stick to using the navy for the binding, or like the other post said, using blue stones on wires amongst the flowers...

In your case, I would probably go with primarily ivory flowers with navy blue ribbon (e.g., if you go with hand-tied bouquets).

Thanks for all your advise! I will most likely have navy in my dress so going with a mix of ivory flowers looks like the best option with the navy ribbon. The dress I'm looking at looks like it has two ribbons coming off it for the train so that would match very well.
