I always heard that Jr. Bridesmaids were 9-15. And, once the girls reached their Sweet 16 they could stand as regular BMs. But, I'm not an expert, so you may want to wiat until someone else posts for the final word. I'm sure they'll all pop in soon.

I don't consider a 16-year-old a Jr. Bridesmaid. I wouldn't even consider a 15 year old one. I say 14 and under. A 16 year-old doesn't shop in the children's department, she drives (probably like crap, but that's not the point), and she is halfway through with high school. I think it's more respectful to treat her as a young woman, not a big child.

I would say that they are "regular" bridesmaids and not "junior" bridesmaids. I had two jr. bridesmaids, but they were 13 and 10.
I think the difference between "regular" and "junior" is age. A girl between the ages of 9 and 15 is really too old to be a flower girl, but not quite old enough to be a "regular" bridesmaid. They don't help with wedding stuff because they're too young, they usually don't pay for their own dresses/shoes (parents pay), etc.

My two were 11 & 13. I think 15+ should be a full-fledged BM. Will the 2 girls be wearing the same dresses as everyone else?

Me niece in a bridesmaid in my wedding and she is 14. When we had a gm drop out FH said "well she can be a junior bm" I responded with "just because your gm dropped out doesn't mean my niece gets demoted"
Here is how I looked at it...when I was 14 and a freshman in high school I would have thought I was old enough to be a BM...and not a Jr BM. I was just trying to make her feel better by calling her a BM...when youa re that age...you never want to be considered younger than you already are. Does that make sense?

I would say at 16, they're regular BM's. My JBM was 10.

I would call a 16 year-old a bridesmaid, not a junior. Generally, the juniors are those in that tween age, not quite teenagers, but too old to be flower girls.

My jr. bridesmaids didn't wear the same dress as the bridesmaids. Their dress was similar to the flower girl dress, but they had wraps (like the bridesmaids) instead of a half-jacket (like the flower girl).

I think I would go the opposite and call them Junior BMs. My reasons are because unless they're working hard & often, their parents will have to pay for (or contribute) their dress, shoes, jewelry, hair, contribute to the shower and the bachelorette party, etc. If Mom & Dad have to pay for it, I would say they're not a full-fledged BM.
Now, if they're 18 - regardless of whether they can pay their own way, they would be a full BM.
