David's Bridal RANT
My sister went to pick up her bridesmaid dress yesterday. Appearantly David's Bridal ordered a completley different dress. One that we didn't even try on. It was a total different color and length.
I finally got the chance to deal with them today. I've had nothing but problems from the very begining with them. I had an appointment to dry on dresses and the lady that helped me was also helping two other brides. So I spent most of my time waiting for her. I thought that was the point of an appointment. I'm not sure why I went back for BM's dresses, but I'm paying for that now.
Needless to say they ordered the correct dress lastnight. They are mailing them directly to each BM's house. They should be here by March 21st. They also told me they have a 2 month waiting list for alterations. That would make it May 21st. That only leaves a month until the wedding and whose to say something else won't get screwed up! I've decided we are going somewhere else for alterations. AHhhhhhhhhhhhh...how frusterating. I'm so glad tomorrow is FRIDAY!
Here are the dresses:
The correct one:

The one they ordered:

I wouldn't stand for the month waiting on alterations. It was there mess up I think I would go there talk to a manager and let them know how upset you are and see what they are going to do to fix it. They should at least pay for the alteration!

I suggest that you go to private local seamstress for alterations, you'll probably pay half of what you would if DB did it!

OMG.
DB ordered me the wrong dress. THEN, they argued with me and tried to tel me that the dress they ordered IS the dress, I want. In the end, they did ALL of my alterations for free.
I also got my BM dresses there. We had NO problems. They even let my pregnant sister exchange her size 2 for a size 8.

I've decided to go with a small bridal shop in my hometown for alterations. I don't even want to give DB another chance to screw up again.

Urg! That's awful! I've decided to go with a smaller bridal salon with my dress but my BMs still may want to deal with them for their dresses. They are all scattered around and it might be easier. I've been gently pushing them to a smaller bridal salon as well.
At least you got it all straightened out and can go somewhere else for alterations. It does seem like more people have problems with them than not.

That's UNBELIEVABLE!
I'd flip.
Anyone heard of problems like this with Alfred Angelo? I'd like a heads up if I'm getting into anything like that...

I bought my dress there but never considered using them for alterations. They butcher a lot of dresses...

So I've heard. I told the manager when I called that I was going to tell everyone of my experience with them if asked. She didn't care what I had to say and that made me even more furious. I've told all of you and posted on the internet. Word of mouth gets around and they are probably going to loose a lot of prospective customers. It's to bad because I'm sure there are some good stores out there.

Oh wonderful... I just got an email from my friend who's getting married in Oct. She went to DB today and picked out dresses! What happened to Alfred Angelo?! I hope we have better luck!

Alfred Angelo is where I want to get BM dresses from but there aren't any AA stores around so we would have to get them from a bridal salon or online. As mentioned before, has anyone heard good or bad about ordering from AA?
(Sorry about the hijack!)

Seems we each know people that like to spring the DB dresses on us.

My maids dresses were Alfred Angelo, but I ordered them from a local bridal store. No problems at all. I'm not sure if there are separate Alfred Angelo stores? David's Bridal is a bit unique in that it's a chain store than sells dozens of styles on it's own label and no one else's. Most stores sell lines from several designers--and might not carry all of the available designs from that maker either, but can usually order them. I did a search for stores in my area that carried AA, and came up with I think 5 nearby.

Hmm strange, the AA store nearest me is like a big chain-type store.

Yeah, the AA I bought my dress from was an exclusive Alfred Angelo store. No problems with my dress!

My MOH lives on the other side of the country, and I still had heard enough bad DB stories to not take chances with them. I ordered everyone's dresses at a local independent store, then sent her dress directly to her home, and let her go where she wanted for alterations. That's something you might want to consider - maybe your BM's already know a place by them they trust for that.

Well I'm breathing more easily with no AA horror stories yet!

I went to the DB's on the West Side of Madison, right by Target. Where did you go?

Thats where I went!! I kinda figured you went there!!! The manager is a little loud and obnoxious, like all the time. But she was really helpful both times I've gone, and my lady who helped with dresses that day was working with two girls, but she was really helpful and nice as well... that's weird how much a difference it makes. Doyou remember who you worked with?
