We didn't have them. To be honest, nothing I liked was reasonably priced and I wasn't about to just throw away money on stuff that people were going to leave at the reception or toss when they got home. I end up with that stuff all the time and I never do anything with it. We opted to give a donation to a charity instead with the money we would have spent. We didn't make a big deal about doing it, but we had some money set aside and figured it would be better spent on that. Cliff had recently returned from Iraq when we got married in November, so we contributed to a charity that assists wounded Marines and soldiers.

We aren't doing them either. I don't see the point in them when most people throw them away or leave them sit at their table. IF someone has the extra money then that's all good but we don't, i'm sure the guests won't mind not having them!

I did sticks of gum (see the DIY contest thread). We didn't have any left at the end of the night.

We had a Christmasy wedding, and gave away small ornaments and candy canes. I got the ornaments on sale for 75 cents a dozen at Oriental Trading Co. I had to look carefully for something that had decent quality, though. People seemed to like them, and I've seen them on people's Christmas trees since then.
We had a few Jewish folks, but we took an informal poll beforehand and none of them said they'd be offended by the ornaments (they were metallic balls and wooden sleds, nothing Christian).

DH made resin coasters with seashells embedded, and in the center was a sand dollar with our names and date in gold pen.

I'm thinking about making my own soap. I've seen some really cool molds around. But it's not way up there on my list of priorities. More like if I have some money left over, I'll do it, if not, no favors.

I donated money to a charity & everyone got a scroll that said where the money went & that it was in honor of their attendance at our wedding...

We aren't doing them. We thought about having personalized Jones soda labels made (you can order cases of the soda with your photo on them) but it's much too expensive.

I didn't want to do any, but my MIL had a fit and said, "You HAVE to have favors!" So to shut her up I did chocolates wrapped in tulle enclosed with miniture roses.

I just wanted to add: if you don't want to do favors, then don't. No one will notice.
And Mary, if your MIL wanted them that bad, I'd have made her pay for them.

We did frosted sugar cookies, that my mom, aunts, three awesome friends, and myself made (and frosted) two days before the wedding. They were circles with our monogram and we put them in a glassine envelope and placed one at every place setting. I thought a fight was going to break out over people stealing cookies...it was fun and cheap!! The only thing bad was the time it took, but after a couple bottles of wine while frosting, it didn't matter.

We are thinking about having small bags of trail mix with tags that say "Happy trails forever and ever". It sort of fits in with our wedding and our lifestyles. However, I'm not completely sold on having favors at all.

Yea, should'a, would'a, could'a....hindsite is 20/20. It did cost me about $30-$40 though and I did them for 3 hours the night before the rehearsal. BY MYSELF!
ETA: I WAS NOT HAPPY! lol...now I look back and think...it wasn't that bad, but at the time it was miserable!

I did small satin bags (papermart) filled with french vanilla jelly bellys. I put thank you metal tags from Michaels on them.

We made personalized pens (see DIY constest) and we didn't have any left over. In fact we didn't get any to take home for ourselves. I had to steal one from my mom. I still see people using them.

We just did some chocolates that I made myself and packaged in cellophane with a little thank you tag. It was nice for me, sort of relaxing and contemplative, and it was so inexpensive! We did 125 favors for $25. I loved how cute some of the favors you can get are, but honestly, I know I always throw them away. I like favors I can eat!

Aww, thanks! I'm proud to say I came up with it on my own! I'm thinking of putting the trail mix in small tulle bags or something similar. Oriental trading company has them pretty cheap.

Tulle is a pretty tight mesh, it shouldn't be a problem.

We had tons of card stock left over from our invites so we made little packs of note cards, tied each pack with a ribbon with a plantable seed paper butterfly as a decoration. We also had a basket of little favour boxes with mints inside.
