DIY Project: Pen and Holder

Pen and Holder

Materials:

• Plain white ball-point pen
• Thin organza ribbon
• Tiny seashells
• Hot glue gun
• Pen holder (just the metal tube part)
• Resin
• Catalyst
• Rectangular mold

Pen:
Very simple: I glued several ribbons to the top end of the pen and glued shells down the length of them.

Holder (actually, the base):
DH mixed up a resin/catalyst solution according to their directions and poured a 1/2-inch layer into the mold. As it congealed, he placed several shells on top, and as it set, he added another 1/2-inch layer, followed by more shells. He ended up with maybe 3 resin layers with a sprinkling of shells between each one. As the top layer set, he embedded the tip of the holder (metal tube) into the resin. Once it hardened, I put the pen in the holder.
