Ushers in Tux's or Not?
Hubby and I are kinda in disagreement about the ushers. He thinks they should be in the same tux's as the wedding party. However, I don't think so.
What did you do for your wedding? What do you think?

I myself think it would look better if they were in tux's, but at the same time we didn't make our ushers wear tux's because I didn't want to cause them last minute expenses (we didn't ask our ushers to be ushers until two weeks prior to the wedding) so we said they could just wear a suit they had in their closet. I kind of agree with hubby on this, but it's not somehting that's set in stone. You guys just need to agree to something and go from there.

I say either or!
I never really though about it! I could see them in tux's, it would be a nice tough, I just don't know whether you would want them to match the bridal party....
But when you think about it, They are a part of the wedding!

Our ushers won't be in tuxes. We're having female ushers too. But the groom and best man won't be in tuxes either, sooo...I'm making sure people know they are ushers by boutonierres or corsages.

My ushers were my GM, so they were in tuxes.
Personally I don't think an usher needs to be in a tux... just a nice suit. So BOOOO YA right back at ya, Mark!

I agree, I think ushers can be in a suit (but should have a bout. to identify them as "officially" members of the wedding party) and not a tux. Ours were also groomsmen, so they were in tuxes, but if we'd had other ushers I wouldn't have asked them to get tuxes unless THEY really wanted to! For example, my uncle seated my grandmother and my mother but wasn't otherwise in the wedding party, but he has his own tux and wanted to wear it, so he did. He didn't match the groomsmen at all (he wore a red cumberbund, they had black vests), but that didn't matter.

I asked our ushers the day before the wedding! We weren't planning on having ushers in the wedding..so they did not wear anything special. Just what I would consider Sunday morning clothes!

Hubby has agreeded that the ushers don't need to match the gm's. He came up with a great suggestion that the ushers will wear their own dress pants/shirt and will wear the same tie as the GM's. BRILLIANT I TELL YA!
( I knew I'd win this "battle" I just needed a little time to work on it!)
Heres a pic of our tux's and ties.
Black Tux-stripes

Blue vest/Tie (Ushers will wear same tie)

I was just going to say the same thing!! Our ushers are not going to be in tuxes because they are not able to afford the extra costs, my bridesmaids are wearing burgundy dresses and the GM are wearing black tuxes with burgundy vests and black tie, so the ushers are going to wear dress black pants, a burgundy button down and a black tie.

Our ushers wore suits that they had and we were ok with them wearing something less formal. I don't think it's fair to expect them to rent a tux or shell out extra money for such a minimal role! Just my !
