Heather
No, not you, Heather.
Heather the flower... does anyone know anything about it? Like where it grows (can I grow it?) and what colors it comes in?
I was thinking about wedding flowers (wanting to go with an Irish floral theme), and I was thinking Bells of Ireland with Heather and something white... I found Heather from a wholesale dealer here and I really like that color, but I don't know if it will look like that no matter where I get it...
I don't have a color scheme picked yet, so in this case it would be like light green and maroon and whatever shade of white I get.

But now you have my interest!

We had heather in some of our wedding arrangements, lovely!
Anyway, we can and we even have, heather here in western WA. I am not sure what zone you are in but that could be a start for if you could buy some this spring and grow for your wedding, or what will be in season locally when you need it. What we have in our yard blooms in the spring
I believe there is a fall blooming and a spring blooming heather so you need to find out about that too.

Ha! Too funny.
Heather originally grew in the mountains of Scotland until it was introduced to other areas. My Grandfather named my Mom Heather, and of course it's what she named me. (It's the national flower of Scotland.)
Like Kim said, you can get it in the States but it grows naturally in Northeast of North America. The most commonly available color is like a light purple, sometimes pink hue. You can also get the rare white Heather, but it'll be expensive. The common purplish-pink shouldn't cost very much.

I wanted white heather for my bouquet ... my Scottish cousin told me that it's traditionally used for good luck.
I wasn't sure if I could find it fresh so I tried to get some silk to mix in with my fresh flowers but I couldn't find it online ... at least shipping from North America, so I gave up.

If FL we used to have Heather bushes in front of our house.... we cut them out and dug them up and they STILL kept coming back. We had originally planted them but then to change them out several years later proved harder than we thought. They grow like crazy and FAST!
LOL thats the extent of my knowledge.

Heather is a ground covering type plant, so yeah, it'll grow quickly. It's beautiful though. Talking about it always reminds me of the song Wild Mountain Thyme ("and we'll all go together to pick wild mountain thyme all around the blooming heather...") which makes me cry. In a good way.

Heather is the plant my DD was named after. She did a complete paper on it in school. I can e-mail it to you if you want me to. I have it down at my farm in a box with all her other things.
I know that Heather comes in many colors.
(I can be a plethrola (sp?) of annoying info .... LOL)
