We are planning a destination wedding for Spring 2004. We want to send information out to people about a year in advance, so they can plan for vacations, save up, etc. When do we send save the date cards, invitations for the destination wedding and invitations to a casual at home reception upon our return? What information should be included in each mailing?

You would send out the save-the-date cards between 6 months and a year before your wedding. You'd mail the actual invitations 6 to 8 weeks in advance (since the wedding is a destination one).

As for the post-wedding reception invites, I'd probably send them out about 4 weeks before the reception.
