Honeymoon: NYC!
Hey girls... I'm in the process of planning out Honeymoon to NYC and I thought I'd get some suggestions from ya'll!
Hotel: The Franklin Hotel - I'm currently looking into this place. From the website, it looks great and semi-affordable. Anyone know anything about it - location, etc?
Things to do:
- I signed up to get tickets to the "View" - which would be the coolest things EVER for me because I love the show. Very unlikely - but a girl can hope.
- Obviously, Statue of Liberty and tour of NYC...
- Chinatown: ie: knockoffs.
- Broadway Show - What do you recommend?
----- Any other recommendations are VERY welcome!! ------
Places to eat:
- I have NONE so far... give me some good, not too expensive places for food!
Thanks for the help in advance, I look forward to your suggestions!

Sounds fun! We're going up to NYC in a couple of weeks, so I may have some more recommendations for you then. I do know we're eating at the Tavern on the Green while we're there. It's expensive, but how often are you in New York? You can get reservations on the website, and generally need to book pretty far in advance.
Also-is your husband going to be as excited about seeing the "View" as you are? You might check with him-I know Cliff would be convinced I was mad at him if I dragged him to a taping. Might be something better saved for a girls weeked or possibly plan something else for him to do while you go. Although if he's cool with it, then have a great time.

Eat at:
- Les Halles' on Park Avenue South (great french food, and they have steaks, fish, etc. better prices)
Stay at: - The Flatotel (do a google search). Block and a half from Times Square - beautiful hotel.
- Marriot Times Square
- Washington Park Hotel in The Village
Do: - Southstreet Seaport and Pier 42
- Times Square
- Rockefeller Center
- World Trade Center Location

I highly recommend Roxy's Deli in Times Square for cheesecake. It's expensive cheesecake, but it's the best you'll ever have! You can't miss it, it has a huge blinking sign with yellow and red lights.

Okay, how is it that I live there and haven't done half the stuff mentioned here?!?
Seriously, if you want to see a Broadway show, you can go to the TKTS booth in Times Square and get half-price tickets for that day. I highly recommend Spamalot (I'm biased - DH has me liking Monty Python now, and I love The Holy Grail) - but that show is hysterical! When you get into New York, grab a copy of Backstage off a newsstand - they have reviews of different plays in the city.
For a pre-show dinner, I suggest Sardi's.
For a good show and dinner, if you guys like comedy, Caroline's On Broadway is one of the best comedy clubs in the city. The food there's pretty good too, and not too expensive.

Ruby Foo's at Times Square was yummy, and it had a nice atmosphere too, although the tables were very close together!
We ended up right next to this pair of crazy middle aged ladies who were sooo into Scotland that they even wore tartan glasses! Made for an entertaining meal! They heard our accent & wouldn't leave us alone! Mo nearly killed me for telling it was our honeymoon, coz then they really wouldn't shut up
My favourite thing was getting fresh coffee & bagels in the morning at a tiny wee deli, but as you're already in the US that is probably nothing new!

Somewhere along the walk to Times Square we found a pizza place on a street corner.... so my suggestion find somewhere to get authentic nyc pizza! It was fantastic!
As for shows... I'm partial to RENT.
I also think the View might not be the best choice if your hubby isn't on board... maybe the Tonight Show or something like that? Or the filming of SNL?
Also Grand Central Station is quite a site to see even if just for a brief visit.

Isn't the Tonight Show in LA? Leterman's in NYC.
I posted in another thread, but if the weather's nice, take a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Great view!
And I agree with Ann - Ruby Foo's is excellent (and it's right next door to Caroline's). Just to warn you - they give you HUGE servings! DH and I split a dessert, and it took us THREE DAYS to eat one piece of cake! It's good, but it's a lot!
