Default A breif introduction.

Good day everyone. My name is Mark and Just got engaged in Vegas on Jan 20, 2007.. woo hoo...My fiance and I are already looking at reception halls and all that good stuff...I have some prices I wanted to ask some of people on the board..I just wanted to make sure I can give reception hall names and prices I got...or is that like advertisement...I just don't want to offend the site =) Anyway, I'm attaching a picture that one my fiance's friend got while I was proposing on the balcony of a Belagio Restaurant in Vegas...It was perfect timing with the water show...

Welcome

I *think* as long as you're looking for advice or just sharing your planning options with the group it's fine? I am pretty new, but That's my view.

But if you are actually advertising something, it's courteous of the board to keep it in the Classified section

Congratulations!

Thanks Bree...yeah I'm defenitly not advertising. lol.

I found a place here in Jersey for $85 PP. That includes Gratuidty and the decoration and Center Piece, 5 hour open bar, Vianese table with Chocholate fountain. I still have to pay 7% sales and 2% to Matre de.(sp). The best thing about this price is that it's the same all year round (others I saw was about 110 PP all said and done. The only thing I don't like about the place is that it has 2 other ball rooms next to each other. Has anyone gotten married while other weddings were going on. My fiance wants to be the only "princess in the castle" so to speak. lol. Is it really that much of a big deal to have your reception while others are going on.

Thanks

I wasn't really looking into all-inclusive sites like that, so I really don't know if $85 pp is a good deal or not, sounds like alot to me, but with open bar and the fountain and centerpieces....sounds fair?

As far as having other parties going on, I personally wouldn't have a problem with it, but it sounds like your FW does. If it's really important to her I'd consider finding a place you won't have to worry about her feeling that way...

Congrats on your engagement and welcome to Pash! My husband and I had our honeymoon in Las Vegas. I love it there!

As long as you're not trying to sell us anything, you can post locations/prices if you're looking for advice.

I will say this - If your fiancee' wants to be the only "princess in the castle," then I would probably not push her to have a reception somewhere that has other ballrooms in it, regardless of the price. You don't want to have to deal with a grumpy bride. That said, though, remember that it's your wedding too, and you should definitely have a say in how it's planned.

I agree!

Congrats and welcome btw.

We don't have many men here, be sure to keep joining us, nice for the male view once in a while.

When is the wedding?

The place I had my reception was HUGE. They had 3 other wedding happening at the same time.

Not once did I see another bride. I wouldn't really be too concerned about that. So long as you have seperate rooms/ bars you shouldn't be bothered by another wedding party.

Welcome to Pash!!! It's lovely to have a future groom on board!

I think it's fantastic that you managed to get a photo of the engagement! Very few of us have those...

Thanks for the welcome ladies I didn't realize that it was really mostly women here. When I did a google search I searched for Groom Forums and I clicked this site. lol. No worries I'm harmless and very much in love ..

Feb-Bride - Was my first time in Vegas and my oh my..fell in love with the city that never sleeps. Tell me why it was 8 in the morning and I was walking the streets with a 3 foot long Margarita cup...As far as the place, She likes it but i she did mention she wanted to be the only bride. And now I think about it..our grand ball room is in the back and it DOES have everything in there..Bathroom/own Terrace etc etc...The place is www.thehanovermanor.com I'm also looking at other places..but the price is what's attracting me a LOT..

Ann. I also have a video too..lol..I wanted to get everything on camera/video. She had no clue...she cried like a baby too..hehe..

And thanks for the welcome all .

and what percentage is this site mainly, between male vs female

I'm looking also looking for a testosterone site for grooms so we can brag about the size of the diamonds...lol...I guess my search continues..no worries..i'll be around to get some female intution..after all...women are smarter then us men when it comes to relationships.

Well, we've had one or two grooms pop on with a question, like yours, and then not really come back after the intial thread. And we have Christopher.

Anyway, in my experience (not with my wedding, but with a couple friends'), having a place with multiple simultaneous receptions can be fine or it can be terrible. It depends a lot on the layout and the thickness of the walls. For one, my friend was in a smaller room adjacent to a larger one, and they literally had to walk through the other reception to get in and out of their room (like for the bathroom, etc). There was also TERRIBLE sound bleed. Another friend's reception was in a place with a huge room that divided into smaller ones, but the DJ of another reception was set up by the temporary divider and they could hear him all night over their own DJ. Plus, the bathrooms were really crowded because there were 3 or 4 events going on in all. A third friend was at a place that had multiple rooms, separated, and staggered the start times of the events. That seemed to work well so that the bathrooms weren't crowded, there weren't a ton of people arriving for more than one event at at time, etc.

Also, $85 PP would be a good price here, but I'm in a very expensive area (Wash DC suburb). I don't know for your area; you might have to do some comparison shopping.

Welcome! It's always nice when a groom braves the Pash boards. hahah.

I know that these 'weddingplexes' are pretty popular on the east coast-my sister actually used one in Long Island. I wasn't sold on the idea, but the way that one was laid out, there were a few ballrooms inside, and then outbuildings with separate entrances/parking lots outside on the grounds. That's where her reception was, and it was pretty nice. I was actually pleasantly surprised. Now, as to the ballrooms inside-well, there's more than one bride wondering who the girl with brown curly hair running through her main lobby is-I had to walk through three weddings to get to where my sister's was. Just stuff to think about.

Has your fiance indicated any preferences as to where she'd like to get married? Just make sure you're both communicating about this stuff early on-I know that in the NY/NJ area it gets pretty competitive for reception sites. Good luck!

Welcome!

I think we have two regular men but the more the merrier.

My reception happened at the same time as another. I never heard the other reception or saw the other bride.

Welcome and congratulations! Beautiful picture...

The percentage of female vs. male is probably 98% - 2%. We have our awesome board "owner" Steve and PlanetClaire's husband Christopher that we all adore, and we get a male popping in now and then to the Groom's forum and other areas once in a while. We LOVE men and really appreciate the perspective so I hope you'll stick around. (Bring the fiance' on over too, unless you want a nice area for yourself to vent and ask questions...)

$85 per person for everything that you're talking about seems good to me. Ours was a little more, but we paid to have the location all to ourselves for the entire day. To me, it was worth it. I could get ready there, be the only one in white, and run around naked if I wanted to.

I was in a wedding last year where the reception was held kind of in the middle of a huge, huge restaurant. Part of the reception area was private, but when we were walking in, being introduced and dancing, we could see other random people having dinner and they could see us. It was beautiful, but I have to admit it was a bit weird. If your Queen wants to be the only one, then I would look at exclusive locations. With open bar and everything else you're talking about, you can expect to spend between $75 - $120 pp in Jersey (and the bigger metro areas of NY).

Ok ladies I talked it over with the female..were looking at 6 reception places this weekend. So far our pick is the hanover manor. 85 PP with all that is excellent price. Sometimes you take the good with the bad...If another place is only 5 bucks more...and she can be the only bride..then we may go for it. =p.

Steph, where did you get married? was it around Morris County. You probably know some of the places i'm talking about ie: Perona Farms, Flanders Valley etc etc...Hanover manor is in E. Hanover right off Rt. 10.

Thanks for all of your insight...I probably will be needing more help on opinions of certain things...i'll be sticking around...
