Im not getting married. But i want to do something special for my Uncle and His soon to be wife. He is like a father to me and i'm very close to her and they have done alot for me. But i don't knwo waht to get them for their wedding. I though about doing a photo album of just them but they don't have alot of " just them "pictures. and they already live together so i can't by them anything for the house. So what are some creative ideas or, even an idea that after you were married thought " oh i wish some oen would of done this for us " Or " oh i wish someone would of bought us this." Hope you can help.

Gifts I would have appreciated (or received and loved):
Gift certificate to a nice restaurant
Gift certificate to a couples day spa
Picnic basket stocked with everything for a picnic (wine, cheese, crackers, cookies, plates, utensils, napkins, wine glasses, etc.)

Do you know what they're doing for the Honeymoon? My FH and I are going on a cruise, and gift certs for cruise items can be purchased ahead of time. The cruisers will find them in their cabin when they arrive. Some hotels also have specialty items that can be purchased and sent to the couple's room: fruit & cheese trays, wine or champagne, and floral arrangements.
I also love Feb's idea of the loaded picnic basket.

Do you do any type of needlework? A small (5x7) counted thread "wedding type" design would be very personal.

If some one wanted to put in some effort for a gift for me this is what I'd love:
Its a box of candles & a poem instructing you of its use...
A basket of candles that come in a pair
In all different colors, for you two to share
The white ones burn first
They are wrapped in white lace
To celebrate your first married night
In your new chosen place.
The green pair is taller, and also much thinner
Burn for the first company you have over for dinner
The dark blue candles are for your first fight,
Burn while making up all of the night,
Pink sets the mood and paves the way,
For your first married Valentine's Day.
Now, when your first year of marriage is through,
The cream anniversary pair light for you two.
Red candles aflame, both your futures are bright,
Promotions you've worked for with all of your might.
By this time we hope, maybe, just maybe
You can light the purple ones, on the birth of your baby.
And just when you thought you'd put these away,
Take the light blue ones out for your fifth anniversary day.
Now just one pair left for the big 25,
The anniversary pair will keep your love alive.
Congratulations (enter names)
On the start of forever,
May the two of you always be happy together!
And burn these candles just the way that we said,
But please don't forget - blow them out before bed!!
You can swap the colours for whatever you can get your hands on...
(I've saved this as a little gift for my groom, we're not giving traditional gifts...)

Oh, wow! That's such a clever and personal idea! I'd suggest if you do the candles throwing in silver candle holders engraved with their monogram.

Ann, that's such an awesome idea! I love it! I'm a bit of a "crybaby", but I know it would bring a tear to my eye if I got that from a friend or family member for my wedding.

Ann, OH - MY - GOD! I LOVE that idea. I am totally going to do that for some friends who just got married! And they are candle burning freaks like me too, so it's perfect.

I just got a WONDERFUL gift from my hubby's 'other mom' Its the best mans mom who pretty much helped raise my husband. She was there through the entire wedding process. Decorations and everything, rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, wedding, reception, after party, everything. And she took pictures during the whole thing. I knew she was taking pictures but had no idea what she was going to do with them. She put them all together in an album from beginning to end and had little quotes for some of them. She typed up a letter that went with it that said:
Suzanne and Josh,
This book was put together to remind you of a happy occasion and all the work and fun that went into making it happen. You are a very lucky couple to have each other. I want you to know that as a couple and individually you are loved by many. Enjoy....
Is that not the sweetest gift ever?!?!
I recommend you do something like this!

(I'm not obsessed, I just love making gifts!....)
I made something along those lines for FH big sister's wedding & it was v.well received!
I knew they were having a colour album by their phototgrapher, so I made them a b&w one, sort of 1940's style & trimmed it with the tartan ribbon off their favours so that it would tie in..
I knew the groom loved b&w photos so it was sure to please!

Hello
One idea is to buy them a share of stock. It's a nice collectible item plus you'd get a real share. I bought my fiance a share of playboy for his birthday from giveashare.com with a frame and engraved plaque. He really liked it. I wouldn't recommend playboy for them, but they have a lot of other stocks and you might be able to find one that relates to a hobby they have in common.
Or you could try and small wrapped box or jar with a few gift certificates for them to draw from (i.e. a cert for 2 games of putt putt golf).

I LOVE THE CANDLE THING. I am so sad that my best friend was married before I saw that. She would have loved it. They have been married for almost 4 months so they have already gone through a few of these.
Good luck!
