Airline tickets/Maiden or Married name?
I was browsing posts and haven't really seen this question pop up.
When booking a flight for our honeymoon should I use my maiden name or married name?
We are getting married in June and the honeymoon is in October. Is that enough time for everything to get changed? I'm not really sure how that works. Any advice would help! Thanks

I would book in your married name. It doesn't take that long to get your DL and passport back in your married name. I got married in August, got back from my honeymoon August 19 and started doing name-change things. I got my passport back in the end of September, so it took about 5 weeks. I got my DL the same day I went into the office and turned my old one in.
That is, of course, assuming you have your marriage certificate to take to all these places and show them. In Pierce County (where I live), you take it in to the auditor's office after the ceremony is performed and they give you certified copies on the spot, so I didn't have to wait at all.
If it takes longer in your county to get your marriage certificate back (some people have said they've waited weeks) then I might consider booking in your maiden name. That of course would mean that you can't change your name (even if you have the documentation) before that.
Tough decision.

I had to book my honeymoon in both. It was a month after the wedding so I wasn't sure what would be changed. As it turned out, I did have everything changed by then. But, since I put both names on it, I was OK.
If you're flying (which I wasn't) your ticket MUST match your photo ID.

I don't believe you'll be able to get a passport with a different name than all of your other documentation. You need a couple different forms of ID when you apply for one. (At least two, possibly three.)
We left for our honeymoon the day following the wedding, so my tickets were booked with my maiden name. All I had to do was have my driver's license (photo ID) and an original copy of the marriage license.
Because it can take months to get a passport now, get it with your maiden name and have a copy of your marriage license when you leave for your honeymoon. When you get home, you can easily change the name on your passport for something like $15. OR - once you get everything switched to your married name, pay for a rushed passport. It's pricey though but could be worth the hassle.

Do you have a passport already? This makes a difference in the process required to apply/re-apply for a passport with your married name on it. If you don't have a passport, I believe what Heather said above is true; you'll need several different forms of ID.
However, if you already have a passport, you can apply for your new passport through the mail. You fill out the application, send it in with your old passport, marriage certificate, and money, and they'll send you back your old passport (no longer good) and your new passport (in your married name). All I needed to include was my marriage certificate and my old passport. I wanted to apply for it in person at the office, but they wouldn't let me because I have an existing passport; they said I had to mail in my application.

I just realized that you didn't even mention a passport, lol.
For airline tickets, call the carrier directly and ask what you should do. They may tell you to wait to book until you've legally changed your name. Or - you can simply wait until after the honeymoon to change it. It took me 2 days to do everything, but I didn't get my new photo driver's license for 3 weeks.

We live in Wisconsin and are going to Florida for our honeymoon. So I won't be needing a passport.

Then I think you can definitely book your trip things in your married name. You should have more than enough time between June and October to change your documents.

Have your FH book the tickets just in case. The name on one of the tickets has to match the credit card used to book. He can purchase two tickets under him, and he'll have to give one name or the other for the 2nd ticket. I think you'll be fine either way as long as you have proper documentation saying who you are.

I had to book my honeymoon under my maiden name. We left only two days after the wedding - there's no way I would've had a passport, driver's lisence, etc. with the married name in time, so I wouldn't have been able to show proper ID.
This was for a cruise, if that makes a difference.

I've still not changed mine!!!
We got ours with my maiden name because I knew the documents wouldn't be ready on time... But it would have given me more incentive had I needed to change them!
