Default Tacky?

Hi,

For starters, I just stumbled across this site and it's awesome! great idea whomever had it.

okay. so is it tacky to have place card holders as favors as well? I'm really back and forth on whether I 1] even want place card holders and 2] if I do, I'm on a bit of a budget, so they would have to serve as the favors. But then I found this really great site with a package of 4 glass coasters-really great looking seashell painted, all tied up nicely- for only 1.35 each!

so then I'm thinking that I can't afford BOTH things, but I should have place card holders, right? is this post even in the right forum?

aahhhhgggghhh. does everyone start out like this? I got engaged about a month ago and set the date for sept. 22nd but I really just started getting to the grind on planning and the favors are killing me.

any ideas are GREATLY appreciated and needed.

I did not use placecard holders. Just used cardstock place cards folded.

Welcome to Pash!!

I didn't use big placecard holders either. I printed my own on cardstock and they looked fine.

Favors aren't completely necessary, and a great place to save money in your budget. If you can't find anything that would fit into your budget, don't worry about it!! Just forgo the favors; your guests won't notice or have any less fun because of it.

We used frames that we printed a name plate to put inside. They doubled as our favors.

Placecards are not necissary if you aren't having assigned seating. (and perhaps not even if you are)

Welcome to pash!

I think combining them is a great idea whether you do assigned seating by seat or just table. It could simply read:

Mr. & Mrs. Heather
Table Two

Guests will pick it up and take it to their table and then can use the marker to block of their seats. It's definitely not tacky and is becoming more and more common. Go for it!

Welcome to Pash too!

We are doing both... I am making name tags that will be tied to the chairs near the top... Not sure whats going in the clear boxes but since our theme is purple I'm kind of thinking of purple mints or jelly beans...

Thanks for all the welcomes! you know....I was going to write our names on the ribbon holding the coasters together, could just put this computer to use and make place cards tags instead.

Welcome to Pash!

Have you got a link to the site you found? I'm finding it hard to imagine then...

I made our place cards too. Printed out onto cardstock & folded over like everyone else it seems!

I did have favours too, but we forgot to get them out if the boot of my car. And do you know what? NOONE NOTICED. I ended up handing them out when we delivered the cake (it's done a bit differently over here). That's a slight fib, we had them out on the tables for all the ladies during the day, we just forgot to hand them out for the evening guests.

But I've hear quite a few brides on here saying that they didn't do favours at all and they weren't missed. So if your budget for the favours would be better spent elsewhere then why not skip them altogether?

You don't need place card holders, or even favors... though they are nice and a thoughtful remembrance of your special day for your guests.

Welcome!

Default Tacky?

Hello There,

I don't think it's tacky to double favors and place cards at all. In fact, I saw a beautiful place card/favor at this website, Bridal Bijoux. You can find it yourself. They aren't as cheap as 1.50, but I didn't think the price was too bad.

Our main color is purple as well. We considered doing a number of things for the guests to take home as favors. Then, as watching "who's wedding is it anyway" one bride did a candy bar. Her main color was green so she chose all green candy for the bar. Our main color is purple and I considered doing it that way, however since we're going for a Texas-themed laid back reception we want to choose items they can't get out of state that we can get locally. So..we're going to just have a 'candy bar' of pecans (off of our own land) and peanuts and a local beverage all tied with personalized ribbon (saving in costs overall) and ironically not going to be near as expensive as purchasing something from another company to give as gifts! All items will be representive of our town and way of life. So just choose what fits best for you!!! Sometimes it's not about what is the 'in' thing to do!!!!!!!

lol, understandable. What's new to you isn't new to us... just keep an eye on the date, and some people have tickers that show their wedding date.
