Default You'll never belive this.

(This is long.) So, here's my story. I know I have a certain...talent for hurting myself, but today topped the charts I think. I went sledding with my sister, cousin, and my cousin's DH and their two boys. Had a ball going down the hills, realized I've been lazy while climbing back up the hills, everything's good. But THEN...we decide to go over to a *bigger* hill. Cousin's DH goes first, does a neat somersault at the end. We laugh, he's good. My sis and I go down...yeah. We hit a bump and when we landed, we bumped heads. My teeth on her head to be exact.
We both roll off the sled and she's holding her head and I'm holding my mouth and I pull my hand away and see blood. My front tooth moved back and down. So, off to the ER we went. They gave me antibiotics and some Darvocet (hehe) for the pain. They told me that I'd have to follow up with my dentist to get X-rays to see if the tooth was damaged.
And THEN...while I was at cousin's house changing (I looked like a marshmellow woman with all the clothes I had on), I felt it move. So, I check it out in the mirror and touch it (I know, shouldn't have) and it moved back to it's normal position. So that made me feel a little bit better, at least my teeth weren't funkdified now. It might be loose still, but I'm leaving it alone best as I can for now.
So I get to hassle with trying to get in ASAP to get X-rays to make sure I didn't kill the tooth. With 6 months to go before the wedding. GRRRRRRRRRRR.
And to top it all off, I have a fist-sized bruise on my butt, I'm assuming from landing that last time. I'm beginning to think I just need to wear a helmet and safety suit at all times.

Ann used the best smiles already! I'll just go with Oh, wait! could work! Sorry! That's horrible! Poor thing! Yikes! I hope your tooth will be ok! My mom has caps on her front teeth from knocking them on a ceramic bowl when she was a kid. Hopefully everything will work out all right *even* if it's the worst and the tooth is damaged. No more sledding until NEXT year!

DH's best friend knocked his two fronth teeth out with a piece of PVC, and he has caps. They look amazing and you would never know they weren't his real teeth! Hopefully they can fix yours - I'm just saying if you do need to get it replaced, they can make it look completely natural!

OMG!! I hope you are alright! Be very careful with that tooth and get x-rays ASAP!! You probably won't need anything done as long as the root isn't broken or there isn't major nerve damage. If there is, I would think the dentist would by-pass caps and go ahead and do an implant. My roommate had implants on her two front teeth last year. It's a long process, but in the end they last alot longer and look alot better than caps. Let us know what the dentist says!!

My sister is fine, although she's got a nice knot on her head. She told me today, "Do you know how bad it hurts to brush my hair?" to which I replied, "Do you know how bad it hurts to brush my teeth?" Lol.
Lol @ extreme sports. I promise, I wasn't intentionally being extreme. It doesn't hurt too bad now, unless I happen to bite down on it or bump it with something. I had an appointment to see my dentist (who's a dumb butt half the time) but I got held up at another appointment beforehand so I had to cancel. I've been wanting to switch dentists anyway, so I'm going to call a different one tomorrow that does emergencies and hopefully get into him to get an x-ray. Plus, the receptionist was real crappy with me when I called to get into my dentist, saying that there wasn't anything they could do and she didn't understand why the ER gave me antibiotics. (This was all said in a derorgatory (sp?) tone.) I hate that receptionist, I really do. But yeah....I'm as good as can be for now.

P.S- can I also mention that I managed to crash into a cart at work today to add another bruise on my thigh? Ladies, I think you all need to put me in a padded room so I can make it to my wedding in one piece.

This is probably why this woman works up front and not in the back as an assistant! I was a dental assistant for a few years and its just procedure to prescribe antibiotics to make sure it doesn't get infected. What a weirdo!

Girl, you need to be careful! We don't want a bride who has no front teeth and looks like she was just beaten with a 2 x 4!!!

Default Good News!

I went to a dentist today (not my regular one) and he took an x-ray....and I'm good! He said that it should tighten back up in about 2-3 weeks. He also said that any time there is an injury to a tooth, there's a risk of it dying, but we can do a root canal should that occur. So yea!!!
I am signing up for dental insurance next week at work. So I am switching dentists as soon as I get my card from them. (I was a cheapskate last year and only got the medical.) The one I went to today also took pictures for me (no charge) of all the cavaties that I have that my normal dentist should have gotten and fixed.
And so now I promise, should I sled again (ever) I will go solo.

Spaz! That's so funny!

I have this mental image of a bride with gauze around her head, black eye, one crutch, other arm in a sling!!

Get it all out now so you have time to heal!!

Thanks for the giggle- with you not at you!!

bang head And she strikes again!!!!

So we get home and I'm carrying groceries in from the truck...walked around the back of the truck since FH parked on top of my car pretty much. Get almost all the way around and started to slide on some ice. It was like one of those cartoons, I could feel myself sliding and trying to wave my bag full arms to catch myself. Didn't work. Landed on my rear and on the trailer hitch of the truck. Yeah....going to have a nice bruise on underside of my arm. I can't win. I really can't.

So who's picking me up to put me in the padded room? Lol.

Trailer hitch! Yowzaas! If it makes you feel any better, you're not the ONLY clumsy one. I'm CONSTANTLY crashing into things. I have bruises all over my legs at all times--and I never even know where they come from since I collide with things so frequently. Last night I ACTUALLY made it to bed in the dark without hurting myself, and Dave was AMAZED--he's always laughing because every night he hears *crash* Ow! and then me limping the rest of the way. It's a nightly occurrence--and a daily joke!

duh

MTGH, I do the exact same thing. I'm constantly getting bruises and having no idea where they came from. And I run into the tables and chairs at work a lot. (Blasted kid height.) Although I do manage to walk through the house in the dark reasonably well. I think everyone keeps me around for entertainment purposes....lol.

I somehow think it's genetic. My mom and grandmother both bruise easily, as well--something in our blood. And my daughter is just as klutzy as I am--she's always tripping over nothing and falling out of her chair when she's really excited about something and gets so distracted.

Cool

Lol, we should start a club. We'll trade stories and have competitions to see who has the most brusies each month. My mom and grandmothers passed it on to me....I can only hope that if I have kids that I don't pass it to them too.
