Default DS christmas present I made

I just wanted to show off my "talent" I made this for DS16's Christmas...he collects knives. I made this out of an old frame, a scrap piece of plywood, velvet, and some hooks I had in my tool box. I'm so proud of it I had to share.

ETA: I've fought with Photobucket and fought and can't resize sorry

Very nice! You should make shadow boxes for wedding gifts (put in invitations, napkins, matchbooks, etc.)

You did a great job

(though I'm a bit freaked out by his hobby, but you have to be 16 here to ever buy cutlery never mind hunting knives! ETA: And they are putting a bill through parliment at the moment to raise the age to 18!)

Ann, you have to be 18 here or have a parent's permission. If it was any other child but him (BTW He'll be 17 in 3 weeks ) I would worry. This is the child that rescues injuried animals an the side of the road. The knife in the pictures, the large one is the only large one he has. He collects small vintage pocket knives. Most of which are so dull you would get a rug burn before you would get a cut. We have strict rules with them as far as out of the reach of the other boys. I didn't think about how disturbing it sounded that he collected weaponry.

I have to add he also collects Record albums both LP and 45s, 8 tracks, and very old coins. He's an odd and interesting duck...he's also the photobug!

Ok, I'm less disturbed now! I probably read too many Patricia Cornwell novels!

Gertie your son and my husband would have alot in common - Damon collects knives, swords, any kind of blade implement! He has got a army issue knife from Vietman from the war (thats his favourite), a huge Thai sword that lives under our bed, numerous number of switch blades, a huge knife from Costa Rica - just to name a few! He also has a huge collection of weaponary like an axe handle, a collapsable batton, pepper spray etc.....! He would have loved to have been some kind of secret service agent!

I always tell him that I am worried that one day he might just flip out on me and kill me - he tells me he wont so fingers crossed he doesnt

Good job on the stand by the way!

OMG! You are so lucky he didn't get up when those guys were breaking into the pub! I'd be reading about him in the papers! Decapitation In London Pub! It's be like that guy who shot the burglar on his farm!
