Has any one seen a photo frame card box. I seen it on another site and can’t
get to the picture again. It’s 4 picture frames connected with hinges to make a box. It was also put on a small lazy susan so it could be turned. The top is made out of a board that’s covered in fabric with a slot big enough for a card to fit through. Any one know what I’m talking about.

No, but that sounds really cool!

I really thought it was somthing different. I just needed to see another picture to see how the top is done.

Maybe you could use an upside-down cardboard box as the base? Sorry if this doesn't make sense, I'll try to explain...

If you took a cardboard approx. the size of the 4 photo frames and turned it upside-down, cut a hole in the bottom (top) of the box and then covered it with fabric (or paint might be easier) then finish it off by placing the frames around the outside of this? Would that work?

That might work!!! I'm going to buy some frams this weekend and see what I can come up with.

What is it for? Is it wedding related or just to display your photos?

I expect it is intended to collect cards at the wedding...it's placed on the gift table and people put the enveloped in it, so they're aren't lost or walked off with.

It is intended to collect cards at the wedding. I bought the frams today but it looks like I'm going to have a busy week it might be a few days b-4 I can post it.

I swear I love this site!
I've found so many ideas I'd never even thought of! I did wonder about what to do with all the cards & presents we'll get at the wedding... May pinch your idea now!

Ann, the big issue is cards that can "disappear" into the pocket of anyone passing by if they are not placed in a container that makes it difficult to get to them. It also makes it easier to get them all home since it is easy to lose a card.

I never even thought of having our guest put the cards in any thing but a basket. When FH son got married in Aug. They had a lot of teenagers there and about $200 came up missing and 2 gifts. So we new we wanted something to keep them out of people hands. We are putting the card box on the guest book table then it will be moved to the fellowship hall after that.

I have started putting this together and figured out I have to put the pictures in the frames b-4 I can glue the hinges on. So I'm going to have to wait till I figure out what to put in the frames.

Who was it who made a big old "wedding cake" box for cards not too long ago? That was awesome.

My mom and I made that. Here's a pic for anyone who's interested in trying to make one.

The one thing I suggest ljeagle, is remember that you may have to ruin whatever you make in order to get the cards out. If you use frames and glue them together or something, you may not be able to use them again. Just keep that in mind when building your card holder.

Aww, labeadel, did you have to destroy your "cake box" to get the cards out?

I didn't use a box... we took a metal mailbox and covered it with batting and satin fabric. Then, since it couldn't be closed, we placed something (I really think it was cut down cardboard that we painted white) inside the opening so cards could go in, but couldn't be taken out. It was quite nice!

Trying to figure out a way to put it together so we can change the pictures to our wedding Pictures so we can have it some where in the house. The top of the photo box will open. Thanks labeadel love the cake box.

yeah, it was sad. I really didn't want to, but my mom and DH kept telling me that it really didn't matter. Here are some fun pics of us wrecking it!

Good luck, ljeagle, it sounds like a really cute idea. If you figure it out, you'll have to post pics!!

That card box is really cute Amy! Is it quite common to have those? Do the guests know what they're for anyway or did you have to leave a wee note with it expaining what it's for?

I've never haerd of gifts or cards going missing at weddings! Does this happen a lot?!
I'm outraged at the idea of it That someone you'd invited to share your day with would walk of with your gift!

I guess it could be the +1 of your guest, someone you don't know... I just don't like the idea that your own friends & family would steal from you.

......

Actually, now I think about it you could have meant the staff from the hotel/venue or something, did I jump to the wrong conclusion?

labeadel, I love your card box! I saw some pictures before that you posted and I was totally planning on stealing the idea for my wedding next year.

Where did you get all your supplies from? And how did you actually make it? I think I remember you saying with hat boxes or something. If you don't want to post it here or hijack the thread you can email me (if you don't mind) or start another thread.

I think we are all inspired by your beautiful creation!

I'm not crafty at all and even I thought about making it! No time though, and I know it wouldn't have come out well. I'd buy one if I could find one like it! Well, no, they'd probably charge an arm and a leg for it, and I wouldn't buy it, but I'd consider it for a while then shuffle away mumbling curses at the bridal industry under my breath...

LOL that image is hilarious. Anything with the word or stigma 'wedding' attached to it skyrockets the price.

LOL @ Tony's "hat"! But your wedding cake box is GORGEOUS, Amy!! I tell you, I am SO impressed by you crafty ladies!!

I have to make sure I keep giving credit where credit is due. Feb totally gave me the idea to make this. We went and bought hat boxes at Michaels, the outside is really nice poster board stuff. It definitely takes 2 to make this. And my mom is super crafty. I probably wouldn't have made it either if we hadn't done it on one of the weekends that she was visiting.

Ann, yes, I've heard of several people that lost their whole card box at the wedding. My mom even works for the police department back in Iowa and she was at a cops wedding, and the whole thing went missing. Who knows if it's a guest or establishment employee. Regardless it would've really sucked!!

Stef, that's really pretty. Did you make it or buy it? I like the wood tones lots.

I really like the wood-framed box, too...and using the little music box hinges is a really good idea for putting it together...could you undo a set of the hinges and put it up on the wall afterward? Anyway, I think that's great looking, I might give it a shot for our wedding (though I've kind of been slacking off on the wedding prep because we might need to push the whole thing back a bit...)

Oooh, I like that box too! Is that something you put together by buying 4 frames and putting hinges on them? Or did it come connected like that already?

**************************************************

posted by ljeagle

Thats what I was talking about. I couldn't find any wooden frams that I feel in love with. Since my wedding color is silver I like the silver frams for this. But thats the same picture I seen on the net just couldn't find it again. Thanks Stef...

Could you spray paint the frames silver? or wrap them in silver ribbon?
