Has anyone thought of making little pouches to hold tissues in for the ceremony to catch all of those tears of joy? I saw one on Martha Stewarts website but I couldn't get the darn thing to look good from her directions. Thought they'd be a nice touch but I'm not too crafty.

I hadn't thought of that actually. Instead, I purchased a pack of handkerchiefs and will leave some in a bag of lavender for a few days. FH & I will hand them out to those closest to us - after I iron them of course. I'm not putting them all in the lavender as my father will need one or possibly 2 if my sister's wedding 5 years ago is any indication.

Hmmm, that seems a good idea, but it isn't. If you something to 'catch those tears of joy', have the MOH and the BM carry very nice hankies to hand to you two. I know it sounds a little silly. But it works well. Or, hide one or two tissues in your bouquet, if it's big enough to hide some!

Marmi - I'm not sure which idea you are saying isn't a good one. If it was my idea you referred to, the hankies aren't for me - they are for our mothers, aunts, grandmothers & my dad. My MOH will have some tissues for me and/or FH to use if we need them.

Aug05bride, I was thinking along the same lines. Not for me, but for my guests. I saw an idea where you fold paper around regular tissues and they make a cute little pouch. You put them in a basket and guests can grab one if they anticipate tears.

I think that sounds really cute, doodlebug so if you like it, go for it

Awww - doodlebug1981 - I saw that idea - so cute! But Aug05 - I love that idea as well - I know my mom will be shedding tears as well as my sister.....That is such a thoughtful idea.

I assume you would use fancy paper, right? That sounds super cute, but I'm not picturing it very well. I just keep picturing plain white paper around tissue.

This is the link to where I found it. Can't make it look right though. My original question wasn't whether I should do it. I like the idea and wasn't asking for an opinion. My problem is that I don't like how mine turned out and was wondering if anyone has done it a different way.

Well excuse us! You asked if anyone has thought about making the little pouches to hold tissues. Next time, when you don't want anyone's opinion, don't post the question.

Never mind. I wasn't trying to be a rude but I was wanting help on how to make the darn things. Thought someone out there may have made them a little different. Apparently not.

That was a tad rude, though, doodle. You did say, "Thought they'd be a nice touch but I'm not too crafty." That to me sounds like a "Should I do it?" kind of thing...
They are very cute. Thanks for posting that link. If I have a moment, maybe I'll try to put one together and see if I can make it work.... I'll let you know.

Sorry Ya'll. I had just gotten off of a 14 hour shift at work and was a bit cranky, and tired. I should have gone straight to bed but I'm addicted to this site. Next time I wait till I get a good nights sleep to post.

Alright, fyi, here is another site I found along the same lines. My printer is acting up so I haven't made a test envelope yet but this may be cute.

I think I made mine right but to be sure, did yours have a cuff in the back as well in the front?

I made the martha stewart one as well, mine had a cuff both sides & it looked a little untidy on the back...
But no one will really be looking at that side & if you decorate the front a little it'd give them less incentive to turn it over & see the messy reverse!
If I have any time left I'll probably make some of these, though my fh is going mad at me for making so many things( the favours, the invitations, thank you cards, etc....)
(I'm working to a tight budget but want nice details.)

Ann, your FH shouldn't be mad at you!! He should be happy that you are so creative and thrifty. You just tell him to be quiet and go watch some sports or something while you do your crafty stuff. I think it's great!!

Yah, just tell him that these little details do not cost that much but they will add a personal touch that people will remember.

I generally make them when He is out, that way he'll have some nice surprises on the day!
He's just worried that I'll end up stressing out coz I've taken on too much!
But I actually find that being creative helps me to relax. Don't you?
I don't think any of us would be making little extras for our weddings if we didn't enjoy it.
So if you have any more ideas please pass them along! I won't tell

I put a little piece of tape on the back so that it held better. I also put a little label on the front that said "for your tears of joy" and then our names and date. Our colors are purple and white, so I did them in different shades of purple and also a few in white.

That sounds lovely Flow!
So did you match all sorts of stuff to your colours?

Purple and white are my colors too. I'm having trouble matching shades of purple though. I think I'm going to add ivory to the scheme and use white and ivory for bows, table cloths, and candles and keep the purple to BM dresses and flowers.

oh, if only you all knew the madness that i have with the color purple. My poor fiance. Ok, for starters I got invitations with a purple glossy border. The centerpieces are purple and white. I made the centerpieces myself. They are the 24" eiffel tower vases with a purple floral decal spiraling around the vase. Then I have the rest of it alternating from two different styles: style one: three white hydrangias bunched together with three purple roses on the ends, then a wooden dowel that attaches the Purple double heart with the table number on it (actually famous couples instead of numbers). Now the double heart is edged in white ribbon and a picture of the famous couple. To top it all off I have purple ribbon (with the wire in the sides) spiraling down from the top of the vase and hanging down. And this all sits atop a 12" round mirror with white tea candles and purple yankee sampler candles. Style two: switch all of the colors (white to purple and vice versus) with the exception of the candles. Then we have the multi-color purple napkin holders, and of course the lavendar bridesmaid dresses, and our flowers are... yes, you guessed it lavendar freesia and white and lavendar hydrangia. Oh, and let me not forget the purple cake. oh, I am a nut

I would post a picture, but my sister took home my digital camera after my bachelorette party this past saturday. So, i'll have to wait to get that back.
Flow and Matt!!! YAY!!!
