Funky, Yet affordable...
Well, As things are starting to come together I have really been thinking about where we will go on our honeymoon...
I have no idea where to even start looking...
We know we would like to save some money, but in the same breath we would like to for 10days or so...allinclusive if possibele...
It could be possible we want toooo much for tooo cheap... I'm sure if we found something we loved and it was more than what we wanted to spend we have enough time to save some money...
Any ideas?
I did find one place Turtle Island in Fiji...Not sure of price

Turtle Island in Fiji is mega expensive!! Damon and I looked into it its just too expensive, here is a link to the rates http://www.turtlefiji.com/rates.php minimum is USD$1,600 a night!
How much are you thinking of spending??? To fly to places like Fiji, Tahiti, Cook Islands, anywhere in the South Pacific I think you will find you will be paying atleast $1,000 for flights alone.
I'm no travel expert but have been to alot of places in this world - let me know how much you are wanting to spend and I will see if I can help!

This place looks romantic and affordable! It looks like its tucked away and you would be staying in authentic Bure's on the beach!
http://www.botaira.com/fiji%20holiday.asp
The all-inclusive Honeymoon rate is US$1074 per couple for five nights! The beaches and water looks beautiful!
Hee hee you've given me something to distract my day now - I love planning holidays!

I'm not a fan of cruises at all, I just think they are a bit Soul-less!!! (no offence to anyone who loves cruises)
Would you want to go to Thailand?? I suggested a really cool Island to one of the other girls on here - you dont really get all-inclusive in Thailand but I think that is a good thing because it forces you out to have a look around etc...
We are spending about USD$10,000 on our Honeymoon, thats including spending money and flights! We really wanted to treat ourselves!
But...... if you get onto booking flights now, and just do some good researching around then you will find something! Do you have your heart set on the South Pacific?? What about Hawaii??
I'll keep looking for you - what did you think of that one I suggested a couple of posts up??

I could never get tired of cruises. I went to Alaska a few years back and didn't want to come home. I would love to go on another but my husband will not step foot on something that he don't have control of. lol

If you didn't really care where you went you could try selloffvacations.com * For that if you decided that you could go anywhere you can get some pretty nice places for pretty cheap. I am not sure though if you would want to leave the destination until the last minute. Look into it at least

I Loved Hawaii when we went. It was nice because it is still part of the USA so you dont have to worry about the passports and all that jazz. BUT!!! ARUBA is amazing!! I had so much fun in Aruba, it is so nice and beautiful. Aruba in increasing in popularity but it still isnt over run like cancun is.

I would suggest a cruise too - it seems as though you get more for your money that way.
For our HM, we did a Carribean cruise out of NY (stopped in San Juan, St. Thomas & Tortola). The one thing I didn't like was that fact that we only spent maybe half a day in each port. Maybe you could look into a cruise that stops at one island for a few days.

We're going to Costa Rica next week, so I'll give you a report when we get back. We ended up spending about 5K on it, but my MOH got us a great deal since she's a travel agent. I'll keep you posted!

I've been to Costa Rica twice and my mom has been once - I don't know ANYONE who doesn't like it! My mom actually wanted me to get married there.
Costa Rica has something for everyone - fancy resorts, family resorts, mid-priced hotels and rustic bungalos. My favorite place is a nature preserve called Cabo Blanco on the pacific coast. It would probably be too rustic for a honeymoon, but nearby Montezuma beach (I think - it's been 10 years since I was there) is lovely, and less expensive than some of the larger beaches. They have a couple of small hotels and also palapas you can rent right off the beach.
And flights are around $500-1000 RT from most US cities (depending on the time of year), so I imagine it would be similar from Canada.

Because you were talking about the beach, I will suggest the Caribbean.... the only bad thing about the Caribbean for the time of the year that you are getting marry is Huricane season.... you never know when a huricane is going to develop.... that's one of the reason I'm getting married in December... I didn't want to get married during hurricane season and then having to cancel everything because of one. So you might want to take into consideration that.... the Caribbean is a great place but you just never know.....

I can vouch for Costa Rica too - CR is one of my favourites! Its very traveller friendly compared to the rest of Central America - i.e. you can get around easily without having to speak Spanish!

Forgive me- I'm not reading all of the other posts.
I'm going to Mexico next week. Puerto Vallarta, Dreams Resorts. http://www.dreamsresorts.comOne week, all inclusive. $2500 including airfare (from the north east). We've booked our excursions- swimming with dolhins, dune buggy, & zip lining. $700 total. (the dolphins were $$)
I've been reading all the reviews & it seems that it shouldn't be expensive to do a few dinners outside the resort. Not that you have to.
Mexico could be something to take a look at... Fiji is going to be very expensive! Or most places in the pacific for that matter.

OH- and I'm also going to throw in - please think about the Caribean. SP? My sil went after a hurricane & it was a horrible honeymoon for her.
& on a side note: I went to Aruba (which I believe is outside the hurricane belt- but will end up costing more than $5k) It was fabulous. My favorite island yet

Hmmmm I think you should forget about Fiji - there is a Military Coup going on at the moment!!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asi...ic/6212364.stm
I'm grateful that we didnt go through with Fiji now for our Honeymoon, we were looking at Fiji for ages before we chose Rarotonga!
I think as the other girls have said that Costa Rica and the Carribbean (sp?) will be much cheaper options for you! Your biggest cost with getting to the South Pacific will be your flights!
