Attorny advice anyone?
I'm going to start looking for an attorney to fight for full placement and custody of my kids. How do you find a good attorney? I'm not talking referrals either. I've had a customer that told me they hired an attorney that was a referral and they didn't gain any ground due to the fact the attorney was biased....(which is against the law but only if you can prove it). So suggestions please....

Referrals from friends are always good, or you could check martindale.com and type in your search criteria to find an attorney in your area that does the work you need. Hope that helps!

Hmmm, I know here in Canada you can contact the Bar association or whatever it's called and ask for a referral. There must be an equivalent body in the U.S.
I'm off to Google for you!

It's called the Bar Association here too. The phone number should be in your phone book.
Also depending on your finacial situation you may qualify for pro-bono law services, which means you could get your lawer's services for free. You would have to check with the bar association if you qualify and which attornies participate.

Your state bar association should have a web site with a list of attorneys by specialty. However, not all attorneys are the same. Some are new graduates with little experience; others have personality issues that you may not like. Therefore, if you have friends or work associates that have had good experiences with an attorney, ask for a referal from them.

Your local or state bar association should be able to assist you. What state are you in again?

I know you dont want referals but I think that if you talk to a whole bunch of people and see what they say. Tell them you want a hard ass lawyer! Most Laywers, at least in IL offer a free first visit. I would make a ton of appointments and see who you like best. Good luck!
