Yet another honeymoon question
I'm starting to get frustrated because we can't agree on anything for the honeymoon. Our problem is that between FH and I, we've been to about 25 countries. It's hard to find something affordable that we've never done because anything exotic is super expensive. I know it's a nice problem to have but it's still really frustrating. Is there anyone else out there who had a similar problem? What did you do?

Something that you can take into consideration will be the time of the year of your wedding, also the budget that you have for your honeymoon and start there. Why the time of the year, because that way what if you want to go to a place that is cold, of do you want to do beach??? Budget, because that way you can know how much you can spend….
Ideas….
Cruise
Caribbean – Dominican Republic have really good deals…..
South America – Brazil
Central America – Costa Rica
Etc…..
I don’t know if this helps… but maybe is something to start….

First of all - just because you've been to a country does not mean that you have experienced all that that country has to offer. So don't rule them all our just because you've been there. In fact, if I were you (and I wish I was!) I'd pick my favorite place and go back there just to soak it all in and get to know it really well.
But if you don't want to do that I agree with Yelycraygirl, the first thing to consider is the time of year you will be travelling. If you don't care if you go immediately after your honeymoon, you may want to focus more on the place and look for good deals off-season. For example, FH and I are going to brazil for about 1/4 the normal price b/c we leave Christmas Day and come back New Years Eve. The second important thing to consider is the "type" of honeymoon you want - do you want something super relaxing where there is someone there to cater to your every whim, or do you want an "adventure" trip?
If you want the first, there are TONS of carribbean resorts/cruises you can go on. And if you've "done that" before, there is nothing wrong with doing it again if you enjoyed it the first time. OR you can go to the same island, but stay in a different resort, camp, or maybe even rent a houseboat or sailboat.
If adventure is more your thing you might want to consider an "alternative" honeymoon - you can volunteer your time to preserving the rainforest in Costa Rica, or working in a orphanage in Russia, etc. Or have you been to Antarctica? They are kind of expensive, but there are cruises out there.
And don't forget the hidden treasures of home - you're from TN, have you ever stayed in the Tree House lodge? Or been on a cattle drive? How about white water rafting in the Grand Canyon? Hiking in British Columbia? The options are literally limitless, there is no way you guys have already seen all there is to see!

Yely--I always opt for something warm. Always. South and Central America are great ideas, we've talked about that but not much.

Those are all great ideas. And yes, I definitely know we haven't seen all there is but FH kinda has this idea 'okay, we've been to this place, I don't wanna go again' and he's also definitely more of an adventure type. I see a honeymoon as a more romantic time to spoil yourself! If I could find something in between that would be awesome. I guess our problem is going to be more of a general figuring out what we each want and trying to combine it!
It's funny you mention volunteering in Costa Rica, he's actually already done that!!! At an orphanage!

Costa Rica is an great option for both adventure and relaxation.
DH was in the Marine Corp for 17 years... he's seen ALOT of the world. I'm a military brat and Have seen most of Europe.
We opted for Italy and Greece. I lived in Italy for 3 years, but DH has never seen it and wants to... plus he's of Italian decent. Greece is someplace neither of us has been. We'll be cruising. Because neither of us has been on a cruise and we want both adventure (day trips) and relaxation.
indiebride.com **I** think has the best travel forum. You get down to earth suggestions from people that have been there with links DH and I have got a whole file on places we want to go after reading through their forum

he he he we were having the same problem. We somehow came up with the idea of the Adult Disney World Experiance. It works great for us, I don't know how great it would work for others though.
They have a loy of great packages that include food, lodging, and park passes all in one.

What about Indonesia, Malaysia, Laos or Thailand or somewhere like that???
They are all super traveller friendly and very cheap once you are on the ground. Damon and I spent two and a half months there four years ago and it was a blast - the weather is good all year round and we were paying about £4 (us$7) per night for a bungalow on the beach which had its own bathroom (cold water but thats all you need) a huge double bed with a mozzie net and it had its own balcony with a hammock and was about 10 steps from the beach!!
Forget about Western Europe - its very expensive!
If you want value for money then you cant go wrong with anywhere in South-East Asia.

I agree with Emily about South-east Asia. We lived in Indonesia for a year and travelled around South-east Asia, spent about 6 weeks in Thailand. I remembered this amazing dive resort south of Thailand that is cheap to stay at (comparable to US prices, anywhere from $40-$210 a night for rooms/bungalows on the beach) and it is a gorgeous resort. The entire thing is three small islands connected by stretches of beach. Even if you aren't a diver, the islands are romantic and there is GREAT snorkeling around the islands. You don't have to go some where wild for your Honeymoon. If you don't want all the fuss just find something nice and warm here in the US and just enjoy the two of you. I think it would be really romantic to go out west at one of the Bed and Breakfast ranches. One of these days I'm going to make Kenny do that.

Thanks for all the fab ideas, everyone. I think we were getting stuck in a rut with the brochures the agent we saw gave us, but it seems he's not very creative. I think it may be between Asia or South America now!

Oh it is!!! We have such good memories of that place, they have the most beautiful sunsets there, we actually went back twice when we were in Thailand cause we loved it so much! You can get fresh seafood every night, choose your own and they cook it for you however you want, I think we were paying about 200baht each for a meal and we were getting fresh fish, mussles, oysters, scallops, Tiger Prawns - all the yummy seafood you can imagine!
BTW 200baht is only about US$5.50!!! Oh I am making myself want to go now, I'm hungry for seafood!!!

Hey Jayme - Costa Rica is great although I have travelled to cheaper places so if you are wanting more value for money I would go to Guatemala or Honduras instead (if you are wanting to go to Central America) there are some lovely Islands of the coast of Honduras that are beautiful and also super cheap - I'm going to try and find a link! But Costa Rica does rock - we absolutely loved it, especially since you see the same stars in Costa Rica that you see in NZ so it felt like we were at home! We spent lots of nights lying on the beach gazing up at the stars!
Or if you were prepared to fly to South East Asia then you get so much more for your cash - you can live like a King and stay somewhere super lush and not break the bank!

We're doing Costa Rica for our honeymoon, but we're not going for a few weeks so I can get through finals. I'll have a full report for you girls when I get back!

I think we are going to go somewhere in Montana, Utah, or Colorado. I'm thinking a cozy cabin with horseback riding during the day and yummy food and oh so cozy beds!
