Keezheekoni
HI!
I'm new here. I just recently got engaged. My name is Cari and I'm 26 and I live in Omaha, NE. My FH is Alan. We met at a bar two and a half years ago and hit it off. We moved in together after a month of knowing each other. Things have been great since. A few weekends ago he came home from work and I guess was so excited he asked me right then and there. I of course said yes.
I'm from a small town in the middle of no where (Iowa) and I moved to Omaha 6 years ago, so I'm planning with my family and friends far away. My parents currently live around 5 hours away but are trying very hard to move in the next year to the east coast. My best friend and Matron of Honor is also on the east coast.
My little sister was supposed to be a bridesmaid, but things aren't going so well with her. She's nineteen, has no job, no car, no place to live and she's pregnant (with no boyfriend and I don't even think she knows who the father is). So right now I'm not even sure if she'll make it to the wedding.
Thankfully I do have quite a few good friends here that are helping me out, but we are having a very small private ceremony. Just us and our parents. Then a huge bash! We have not yet set a date.
And if you are curious about the name 'Keezheekoni', it's my Cheyenne name and it means burning fire.

Hey!
Welcome! It's always nice to get a new member. And, I'm glad you told us about your username. I think that's awesome. How did you get your Cheyenne name?

name
Believe it or not Keezheekoni is my real name. My dad is half Cheyenne. Cari (what my mom would have legally named me) is just easier for people, and that's what I've gone by since I was little. It was their agreement. Legally my dad got to give me a unique name and my mom called me what she wanted to. The funny thing is I take after my mom so if I didn't tell you you wouldn't know I have indian in my blood. I have blond hair and blue eyes. Lol.

Welcome to Bliss Cari! You do have a very unique name. How is it pronounced? I know I am probably butchering it in my head.

Welcome!
Hi Cari! Warmest welcome to you! You'll find a lot of great women on this site and a lot of help planning a wedding. Heck, mines over and done with, and I'm not going anywhere any time soon!
BTW, I'm also from Iowa. The Quad Cities, to be exact. Are you familiar with the east side of the state?

Welcome to Bliss Cari, and congratulations on your engagement!
Would we say your name as it's written? I'm reading it as key-Z-co-knee would that be right??

my plans
So we finally set the date. My FH wants to get married on a Friday so we are going to do it May 18, 2007. We found a reception hall that does it all. They do the catering, decorating, and cake. Our wedding is going to be outside, we have three locations in mind. My parents came to visit over the weekend and my mom and I got my dress. It's very pretty. Strapless and it's champayne and ivory. It's on the david's bridal website #T8580. So I'm way ahead of schedule and can relax for a while now.

Cari, that dress is the one I want (I think) too! Our wedding is still a ways off, so I haven't picked yet.
