Default Damon & Emilys NZ Wedding

Hey girls I'm bored at work so thought I would start one of these and put all the wedding plans in one place.

So I'll start from the top - The Proposal:

we were back in NZ (our home country) in Sept 2004 and my husband had planned a day out on the lake for us, it was the middle of winter in NZ but it was the most stunning day. Damons parents and his grandparents were coming out for the day trip aswell as his two best mates and their girlfriends. He had hired this lovely big launch for the day. When we were on the way to the Lake I was trying to convince Damon to let me go skiing for the day as the Mountains were only another hours drive from the lake so I was suggesting that I could drop them all off and they could go fishing and shooting while I went skiing for the day - little did I know what he had planned. As I said earlier it was the most beautiful day, the skies were blue and there wasnt a cloud in sight and the lake was so calm it looked like a mirror, the mountains were in the distance and looked stunning! So we get out on the boat and the boys did some clay-bird shooting off the back, then we did a bit of fishing, then we all sit down for lunch and everyone is milling around the back of the boat and Damon calls me out and I wonder why everyone is just standing there looking at me - anyway he gets down on bended knee and produced the most beautiful gold and diamond solitare ring and asks me if I would marry him .... I am so shocked by the proposal that I instantly respond with 'are you joking?' then when I realise he is serious I burst into tears and give him a huge hug and kiss and respond with a very definite YES! He is such a sweetie - and continues to stun me with how romatic he can be. When he called me out onto the back of the boat just before he asked me - he had waited until the boat had turned around so that the mountains were behind us, it was just perfect and totally exceeded my expectations of a proposal!

Oh and by the way I caught the two biggest fish that day - well you could say three considering I had bagged myself a fiance too!

I would soooo love that but unfortunately both times we are passing through we dont have enough time to leave the airport - the first time through we only have 2hrs and the second time only 4hrs!! It would have been so cool to have met you!

No problem - nose away, seriously, I dont mind at all!!!!
We got engaged 2 and a bit years ago when we were back in NZ Sept in 2004 when we were there on holiday. We came back to London and we decided to just run away and get married, so we decided we would do it and 2 weeks later got married on the 4th Dec 2004 at a registry office in London with about 30 of our friends - over here you have to announce to the Council your intentions of getting married atleast 2 weeks before!
We told our parents we were planning to do it and they were totally cool with it as long as we did something in NZ aswell, so right from the start we were always going to have the big wedding!
So the NZ wedding will be all our family and friends and we are doing the whole sha-bang as if it were the real thing! The London wedding was just us and our friends in London and then we had a party that lasted 2 days (whoops) after the wedding. We are really pleased we did it that way because we got to do what we wanted for our London wedding without having to follow any ettiquette or really plan anything and doing it as stress-less as possible - it was actually quite romantic because it all happend so quickly!! Its definitely made the planning for our NZ wedding easier because we are far more open to our parents suggestions than maybe we would have been if we hadnt done our own thing in London already! And also we dont need to worry about the other backing down because we are already married - hee hee hee!!!
We are coming back to London after the wedding for one more year of saving hard and then we are planning to travel for a year (thats right a whole year ), and then we will go home, buy a house and have babies and all that good stuff!
BTW - I have been in London for 5 and a half years and Damon is coming up to his 5th year, we met in London (he's from NZ too).
