I'm having a hard time with dry cracked lips. Anything you gals use to keep them soft and hydrated?

Drink tons of water and the absolute best lip balm EVER is Burt's Bees. It's a little pricier than Chapstick and the like but well worth it. I have one in my purse and one on my nightstand. And it has a tingly, minty flavour! I love it!

don't lick your lips! The saliva evaporates, taking the moisture from your lips with it.
I use Blistex, which works really well for me. I highly recommend it. Also, drink lots of water, and be careful with hot stuff as it will dry them out more (ie hot water in showers etc)

And you can exfoliate them every now and then too! You can run your toothbrush across your lips ( sounds goofy but it works) or Smashbox cosmetics ( I LOVE their stuff) makes a peppermint flavoured lip exfoliating cream.

The only thing that works for me is Carmex. I have them stashed all over the place, I can't stand for my lips to be dry. I actually forgot my little makeup bag at home a few weeks ago and had to drive to Longs at lunch to buy Carmex! I couldn't even last a day. I've got one in the zipper pocket in my purse, one in my makeup bag at home, one in my little makeup bag in my purse, one in my glove compartment, one in my desk, one on my nightstand, and one in the bathroom. Rick uses it too, he always has one in his pocket. Chap Stik has always made my lips feel more dry. Anyone else have that problem, or is this yet another thing that makes me a freak of nature?

Yeah, I use carmex religiously, but still have dry lips. I'll try the Burt's bee's...someone else mentioned that to me recently.

Just be careful with ChapStick and Carmex and stuff. It's actually possible for your lips to become "addicted" to it and stop producing moisture on their own. It's happened to me a few times.
I personally use the Medicated ChapStick with SPF 15

I don't know if it is true or not but I heard it's not good to use Carmex. I heard it contains alcohol, which actually dries out your lips...making you need to reapply. Anyone ever heard that?
Neosporin has a new lip treatment...I have it...but don't think it works very well. My lips absorb it so fast I am always reapplying.

I actually use this Avon stuff that I love. It's part of the Mark catolog of products...it's called Kiss Therapy and it's really rich without being sticky-gross and comes in clear or red tint. Smells like roses.
I wanted to put a kissy face, but we don't have them anymore!

Hi, my name is Amy, and I'm addicted to Chapstick.
I've never been a fan of the medicated ones. I'm a chapstick lover through and through. I use all the different kinds too. And, like Bebe, I have them ALL OVER THE PLACE (one next to the bed, in the bathroom, living room, in my purse, in my desk drawer). I've even been out at dinner meetings, and I've had colleagues comment that I must have an addiction, because I need to put it on RIGHT AFTER I eat, or in between courses if there's a gap in time between them. It's definitely a problem!
danielsgirl, just keep some kind of lip balm on them all the time. I don't really think it matters what kind it is, as long as your putting something on them that's for moisturizing lips. I think the MOST IMPORTANT time to put it on is at night. That's when your lips can get so dry that they crack. I find that lipstick dries my lips out, so be careful of that also.

The Best!
Okay...here's the low-down (from my own personal beauty experiences)...I am extremely anal about the types of products I use on myself...and would be just as likely to buy a $2.00 drugstore item as well as a $40.00 higher line item...so my professional (I've just decided on my own that I am a professional) opinion is to use Rosemary Hydrating Lip Protector from Bath and Body Works...it's the best stuff!! Also they have a C.O. Bigelow product called my favorite lip balm...if you want to use a lip exfoliator I've found that the best one is Clinique's All About Lips is wondermous...
Also, the reason that people hear warnings about over use of certain products like Carmex is because they use salicylic acid as an exfoliator...which works okay as an exfoliator but can be very drying from overuse...so if you are constantly putting on carmex and it feels good for a while, but isn't getting better...then overuse.

I get dry lips too, and the only thing I use is Vaseline. I normally don't put any on during the day, but I always, always, always put some on before bed. It's the best thing that's ever worked for me. I swear by it....give it a shot.

There was a thread on the old board about red bumps on arms and it suggested SA based on dermatologist recommendations! That stuff is in the Neutrogena Body Scrub that I use. It's probably just minimal in the Carmex recipe though.

I can't wear anything on my lips like chapstick, carmex, vaseline, lipstick, gloss, etc. My lips are incredibly sensitive and I have an allergic reaction to everything except Abreva. It's $16.99 for a tiny tube, but it'll last you a year or more.

I definately feel like when I don't have my Carmex I am miserable. I'm so glad I'm not the only who is utterly obsessed with it. I keep Blistex and City Lips in my overnight bag for trips or staying overnight. I like to have the Carmex during the day and use the Blistex at night and in the morning. I use the City lips for going out on the town, and sometimes I use just a regular lip gloss or lipstick for work or shopping days.

I picked up some Chapstick and love it! I put it on before I went to bed last night and my lips were still soft this morning!
