wave Help farm/spring wedding

Hello I am new here:wave: . My wedding is next April and is going to be on a farm. The ceremony is outside in front of a gazebo and the reception is in a barn style pavillion on the same property. I want to make my decorations "farmish" but I don't want to make it look to much like a fall wedding. I like browns and that reminds me of a farm but is it appropriate for spring? We got silver buckets and will put daisies in them for the centerpieces and they are "farm like". SO I NEED HELP! Maybe i could have browns and also have light pink or something to keep the spring feel.I will take any suggestions for I am planning this alone! YIKES!:jawdrop:

I like the idea of daisies. That reminds me of spring and the fresh feel. I think if you use the brown with the pinks and whites (bringing the daisies into the color scheme), it will be very spring-ish. Just stay away from the oranges and darker colors to go with the brown and you'll be fine.

Welcome to pash. You should go into the bridal journal section and introduce yourself. We would love to hear all about you and your plans.

Congrats on your engagement and welcome to Pash!

I like the idea of using daisies as the centerpiece flower. In my opinion, they have a springtime "feel" to them. You could also use daffodils because they are a springtime flower. You could even use yellow flowers with your brown color scheme. When I see colors like pale yellow and pink, I think "springtime."

Hey, welcome to Pash and congrats on your engagement!

One of our other members, Julz518, posted some awesome pictures of rustic, spring/summer decor. Here's the link to her wedding plans so you can take a peek -- she's away on a work trip right now, but I bet she'd be a fantastic resource!

Feel free to post in the bridal journals and tell us your story -- how you met, got engaged, etc...

I am new too! I posted a little about Jake and I on the October 2008 Forums.

As far as your color scheme, I am an Interior Designer so I am around color A LOT, Chocolate brown is considered the new black so it will go with pretty much anything. For you pink or a light green would be best, or even a pale blue. I would stay away from a light pale yellow, it tends to look out of place next to chocolate brown. When you are looking at the colors stay away from any Orange based colors. The daisies will go with anything. Good luck with everything!

I love the daisy and tin bucket idea.
Other ideas that might work for a spring farm theme... red and white checks, picnic baskets, straw bales would make great casual seating, red flyer wagons (they come in mini sizes) half barrel buckets

Thanks everyone. I want to also put my baby Chihuahua, Harley, in the wedding and i dont have a ring bearer, so I was thinking about putting him in a wagon and having my FG pull him down with her...but i don't know how I am going to get him to stay in it. I know right when she started pulling he'd prob. jump out.

or you could put the the pillow with fake rings on your dogs back. that would be really cute. just have your fh have a treat so your dog will run up to him. or your fg could walk him up to your fh. that would be cute too!

Welcome to Pash! I was born in Tennessee and lived there up until three years ago. I sure miss that place! It's so beautiful and everyone is so friendly! Your wedding sounds like it will be nice!
I like the daisy idea. You could also do tulips for a spring feel. Tulips make such lovely wedding flowers! You could do something with seeds like using seed packets as wedding favors or placecards at the reception. When your guests plant the seeds later they'll remember you every time they see the flowers. Do a google search for "wedding seed packets" and you'll find a variety of suppliers. A wedding we went to in West Virginia a few years ago had hay rides for everyone. It was fun doing something different!

Some one on here did a shower or something with brown table cloths with pink on the tables. Any one remember who it was?

Welcome to Pash!!

I think the idea of brown and light pink is wonderful, as well as incorporating white into that color scheme. I can picture daisy centerpieces (white and light pink), and you could even go with brown tableclothes and white place settings/plates....that would be very simple and springlike.

Another thing that is very farm-like (to me) and simple is clothes hanging on a clothesline, blowing in the breeze. I'm not recommending that you hang your laundry up at your reception but I was thinking that you could hang clothesline across the barn (overhead) or on the walls and hang lightweight white material from it.....it would be a simple but beautiful decoration. (It may look better in my head than the visual picture I am painting.)

Something like this, although with more material than they have.

ETA again: If there aren't many doors/windows in the barn and the weather will be warm enough, you could bring fans inside to provide that "slight breeze" that beautiful spring days have.

Ooo, I like that clothesline idea. White fabric flapping in the breeze would look so romantic. It would be kindof like the farm equivalent of tulle. White lights always look nice too.

Welcome to PASH!! I was seriously considering brown and a light or aqua blue! The combination is beautiful. Gerby daisies come is all kinds of colors and are very affordable for centerpieces, maybe in some "farmy" tin buckets. Scour your flea markets for interesting centerpiece holders, if it is an informal wedding, all of the holders don't have to match!!

Well actually we are using tin buckets! Here is a pic I got the idea from...(we got our buckets at walmart for $1 something!!)

But I prob. will just use light pink flowers. I read somewhere about a farm wedding and outside they hung a closeline, and then put baby pictures of them hanging on it. Sounds cute.
Okay so if my BM have latte dresses, should I have brown table clothes with my pink flowers or white table clothes with brown runner and my pink flowers?
What else can I do for the brown and pink throughout the wedding? And do I need more latte somewhere? Or is BM dress enough? GOSH sorry so many questions!
We are doing something like this..

What color of ribbons would I have?

Welcome to PASH -- I agree, the posters here are really welcoming! Sam's Club or Costco has bulk gerbera daisies you could get and you can specify the color, so if you just wanted the lighter pink, you could order them that way. Daisies are very affordable, and I love the idea of the buckets!

Daisys are a good idea - so would wildflowers.

Oh - can you designate someone to walk Harley down the aisle on a leash? Can the flower girl do it?

Are you supposed to have all light colored flowers or all bright, or can you use both? For a spring wedding?

example- the pic I have of the tin bucket has bright flowers(doesn't look that springy to me) and the pic below that for the isle has light colors(looks springy). What do you all think? Or will my florist just know?

Yes i think that is what we are going to have to do. but i guess it all depends how he is acting in 6 months. He is 5 months now so he should be fine, I just don't know what i will do with him during the reception. The "barn" pavillion just has two 1 stall bathrooms and a little kitchen....I don't even know if they would allow pets. If I can't have him there I at least want our engagement pic to have him in it, hopefully both dogs but Daisy is CRAZY!!!

What about just thinking in shades of brown and pink instead of defining it. If you like both shades of pink in the aisle thingys use both Otherwise use the pink and champagne.
I think the latte will find it's way into things. It's kinda a deep champagne or rich off white color.
You could also alternate the runners on the table. Do one table with brown, one with latte.

I think like Breezy said all different shades and tints of brown and pink would look really nice together!
