Budget for flowers, What is your budget???
Just out of curiousity... before I go to floral appointmets... what was everyone else's budget for flowers? I have no idea... I have around $500, what do you think that can get me?? I have decided to spend my budget of catering and a nice jazz band.... Do I need to allot more? I am not sure if I really want them for centerpieces, I was just thinking about doing candles on a mirror and then buying cheap roses, taking the stems off, and placing around the candles... Something similar to this, to give a nice jazzy feel to the place.

We spent $750 on flowers for my first wedding. We used mainly live roses.

I'm not a huge fan of flowers and didn't want to blow money on them. Plus they make my brothers eyes water when there are too many in the room. So, I did silks that cost me about $50 for the bouquets. Our centerpieces are sugared fruit in pedestal bowls.
Around here, flowers for centerpieces will cost a minimum of $1000 for a wedding with about 100 people. However, pillar candles are not as cheap as you'd think they would be...at least from what I found.

No, the pillars aren't as cheap as you'd think they'd be. Even at a dollar store, based off that picture you've posted you're already at $8. Add the mirrors and flowers, and you're probably going to be up in the $15-$20 range. Which is fine, if you can afford that.
So instead of real flowers, use silks. They're much more cost effective. Or flower petals, those would be pretty as well. If you like the one you posted, maybe cut the number of candles in half. Use those glass "stones" to scatter on the mirror and tables. I'll think of some more here in a few...

I was going to suggest the glass stones. they will reflect off the candles and give a warm jazz feel... plus they come en-mass and so are cost effective

Do you have someone that can arrange silk flowers for you? Or real ones?
We purchase live flowers from a wholesaler....I ordered 800 stems of tulips (in season), we did alter flowers, mine and bridesmaids bouquet...plus full vases as my centerpieces, it cost me $450 (I also bought some greenery). But I had someone experienced to arrange them for me.

I agree with the other ladies. Pillar candles are not that cheap when you figure how many you want at a table, and they get more expensive the taller they are.
Our budget for flowers was originally $1000 for all bouquets and floral centerpieces. After we decided not to do floral centerpieces, changed it to $600 and it was right around there for our actual cost.

we spent around $400 for flowers and that was only for two bm's bouquets, my bouquet (that was 160 of the 400), coursages for the mothers and grandmothers (6 of them), and 8 roses that we put on the chairs of people who had passed away.
To do centerpieces i cant even imagine how much it would have cost.
