Changing your look for the reception
A PASH-er wrote me through my Web site to ask about any affordable 'wardrobe change' ideas to give her a second fashion look for the party -- much like celebrities do, but without the second pricey gown purchase.
I shared some ideas with her:
* Arrange for a removable train, not a bustle, to show off a detailed back of your gown
* Same goes for removable sleeves to a formal gown. Designers and alteration specialists can do this beautifully
* Remove the jacket portion of your gown, if you've gone with a coverup to hide your shoulders in a house of worship
* ADD a stylish jacket to your sleeveless or strapless gown, such as a beautiful silhouette of a bolero jacket (which many brides say allows them to change into a supportive bra under their gown to allow for worry-free dancing)
* Slip into a lace or elegantly crocheted jacket
* Add a colored silk or satin sash to your gown
* Add a sparkling belt to your gown's waist -- look more at single or triple strand jeweled belts for just a touch of shine
* Remove your headpiece and veil, and replace with a sparkling tiara or jeweled headband, jeweled hair clips or barrettes, or fresh flower tucked behind your ear.
* Change your jewelry. If you wore your mother's diamond necklace and earrings for the ceremony, change into a new set -- perhaps a fashionable lariat necklace that hangs down to show off your open back gown design.
Any other ideas to share, everyone?
