Question Fall wedding with an Asian twist but a blue dress?

Okay we would like to do more of an Asian themed wedding but we want to include fall touches. The coloring is not that hard to come up with reds, yellows, orange. The problem is that I have my wedding gown but it is blue and white. I don't want another gown and so we are trying to find ways to incorporate blue into the color palette. Now I know it won't be that easy but I am hoping that with most Asian silks and papers being as colorful as they are that we can actually pull this off. Any thoughts or ideas would be most welcome!

With that color combination, I would want the only blue thing in the room to be the dress! Think of how you would stand out in photos.

If you wanted to add more, you could make your centerpieces the same blue as your dress, or purchase blue tinted glass and put white votives or tea lights in them so there is a bluish glow. Blue colored lanterns would also be beautiful.

I agree with Heather, I thinkit would be beautiful. I would add a small amount of ble in the certerpeices and cerimony decorations though, just so it looks like it supposed to flow and match. But only a small amont.

I would really like to see how it all comes together.

I'm interested how you're thinking of making it Asian themed? Food or decorations or both?

Okay here should be a picture of my gown. Not the best picture in the world but it is something.

As far as how we are making it Asian we are incorporating a few Japanese traditions. For example I am folding the 1001 origami cranes and we will also be performing the San San Kudo as part of the ceremony. The sharing of sake is one of the oldest traditional Japanese wedding ceremonial customs dating back to the 8th century. The sharing or toast of sake symbolizes a formal bond between the bride and groom. So we are doing this in place of lighting a unity candle.
Another Japanese custom is for the bride to change out fits throughout the wedding. I will wear a tradition wedding gown for the ceremony and change into a kimono for the reception. Malachi will also be wearing a kimono.
For favors we are handing out chopsticks with cranes on them and we will be doing Chinese foods for our menu.
We plan on using Chinese lanterns and orchids for lighting and flowers.

What a beautiful and unique dress. It fits you spectacularly.

I think things will work out awesome. If you're going to change into a kimono then can't it be in one of the wedding colors (red for luck ) I wouldn't worry about your dress. I would think of it as a nod to your western heritage

Yeah, I LOVE my gown. I had it custom made. It was the one thing that I refused to budge on for my wedding and Malachi completely agreed with me. He said that the gown is all me
As far as colors I am hoping that I can find a kimono that has white, red, and blue in it. I also would really like it to have cranes in the pattern.

If you can find the tv show "Rich Bride Poor Bride" on one of your local television stations they just had an episode that was called 'going bridal' where the bride had an asian themed wedding and they used the same color blue as your dress. The information for my t.v. listing as to when it airs next is on the 'Slice' tv channel:

Going Bridal

I agree.... let the dress stand alone from the rest of the decor... it'll be beautiful!

Oops! I didn't notice that the post was a year old. That's ok though as I'm sure other people like me looking for blue inspiration for our upcoming weddings can still use the information posted in this forum. Happy Searching.
