Hello,

Anybody making your own bouquets?

Thank you.

I did. I bought silk flowers (lilies and some other smaller flower) in muted pastels from a craft store and hot-glued them inside a conch shell (the shell acting as a holder). I did this for myself, MOH and two BMs. I also tied extra flowers together to make a toss bouquet.

Hello,

For those like us who will make our own bouquets (these are silk flowers) there are stores with tons of wedding supplies. I have no access to this one because they don't ship to Canada at the moment. But if you are in the US you can get flowers cheap. This are silk flowers.

We made my toss bouquets for my wedding! I did the first one, then my sister and 11-year-old niece finished them, so that tells you how easy it can be (depending on what you want.) I bought 2-dozen red roses at the local Albertsons the day before the wedding and kept the bunches in a pitcher of water (about $25). The day of the wedding, we pulled the bouquets apart and threw away all of the baby's breath and stripped any big thorns and leaves from the lower stems. We bunched them into groups of 3 and simply held them in our hand as we wanted them to look, then wrapped the stems with floral tape (you can get floral tape at Michael's for a couple of dollars) with floral tape you kind of pull and stretch it as you wrap it so that it adheres to the flowers and to itself to keep the bouquet together. After you wrap with floral tape, wrap again with ribbon or something to cover the floral tape. You can just tie the ribbon off and cut it short, then tie another piece of ribbon over the knot to make your bow. Trim the stems to be an even length, and you're done! I'll post a pic in this thread once we get pics back.

bebe-
that is an awesome idea. I never thought of that, but i used to work with flowers at a former job so doing that would be easy for me. Thanks.

I made ALL of our flowers - bouquets, bouts, corsages, decorations - everything! I bought all of our silks at Hobby Lobby during their 1/2 off sales.

HeatherN, those flowers are so striking! They really look beautiful.

Gabriela, I'm on the fence about making my bouquet. I see such pretty nosegays and I know I could make them myself, but FH is very leery about me taking on too much and not being able to enjoy getting ready for the wedding. What do you girls think about using a more informal bouquet or a storebought one?

This is actually from (I'm such a cheapo) Walmart! I really think it's kind of pretty and is available online. IDK, it's just a thought. Let me know what you think.

Did I mention how fabulous this forum is??

I love the colors, Complicated. And, the arrangement is very nice. I've never bought an arrangement from Wal-Mart. The only thing I would be nervous about is whether the final product would be as fresh. It seems that they may not have as much flexibility in delivery from their vendors as a smaller, local florist might. But, that's just a guess.

LizBet, I wonder about the same thing. I think I'm going to order one and see how it looks when it gets here...
