Sermon/ Message
Does anybody have any ideas for a sermon? or the message during the ceremony? I don't want my pastor to do it, 'cuz he'll make it like 30 minutes, and thats boring. I want to have somebody else do it.
At my cousin's wedding, the sermon was given by somebody who knew both the bride and the groom, and it was "What it would be like to be <bride> and <groom>'s kid" and gave all the qualities that make them good together.
I dont want to take that idea, since we share the same family. So, does anybody else have any ideas along this train of thought?

Are you planning a church wedding? If so, I am not sure that the pastor will allow you to skip his message. You could probably ask him to keep it brief because you want a short ceremony. Anyway, I'd check with the officiant before you get too set on the idea.

We had a short homily in our ceremony that was only about 7 minutes long.
Honestly, I was so nervous and excited that I barely heard a word he said. But it was important for him and for us to be a short message in there, and a homily was what we decided on. (I'm not sure if that is just another word for sermon or if it actually implies short sermon.)
Maybe ask your pastor about that.

I agree-you may want to check with your church before you get set on the idea of having someone else give a message. I know at our church (we're Methodists), the only way someone else could even participate in the service if they were a pastor, and they have special permission from the minister to assist. Even then, they couldn't give the message. You might talk to the pastor and see if he can keep it short-I know there are three different services to choose from at our church, with varying times for the message, communion, etc., ranging from 15 minutes to about 45.
Good luck!
