Default wedding books

Does anyone have some good recommendations for wedding planning books? I'm more of a book person than an internet person, so I would love to pick up some books to read.

Someone sent me a big ol' wedding book but I threw it away because I didn't use it at all. I would go to Barnes & Noble (or whatever is in your area) and just browse through the wedding section. You'll find a little bit of everything you need or want. (Or look online at the major book sites: B&N, Amazon.)

Yeah, Iam actually looking for the same thing. I have heard Chapters is a great place to go! I need a place to put all of my magazine cut-outs and keep journals and notes of thing Iam doing and wanting to do. So if you find anything let me know, I will do the same!

Thanks

A friend of Cliff's handed down a book to me called "Bridal Bargains" that I thought was great. I think it's in a newer edition now. It has tips on questions to ask vendors, ratings on various manufacturers and websites, and tips that have been sent in by real brides. I really like the sections with questions to ask-when I first started meeting with vendors back in January, I was complimented several times on knowing my stuff...I think there's a website and message boards that go along with the book, but I never really looked into those.

Hope that helped!

Thanks ladies!
I'm probably going to pop into Chapters on Friday to check out the books section. If I find anything interesting I'll let you know.

I posted this on your other thread too, but I figure I'll post it here too, just incase you or anyone else can use it:

I used 2 wedding planner books I got for free. One I got free with a JC penny gift registry, I think you only have to register 15 gifts online, print it out and then bring it into the store, and they give you a planner.

The other one I got on this sight. No strings attached just free, weird, but cool.

Both of these planner are great one both have things the others don't, but just one would do you just fine.

Here is an online wedding planner, it is alot like the paper one, with all the checklists and everything (oh and they offer you a pretty cool free web page).

"Bridal Bargains" is a good one. As for actual planners, I like "The Anti-Bride Wedding Planner." It's a nice size, lots of great ideas and suggestions and lots of places for organizing stuff. The only criticism I have is that the pockets in mine broke really easily, so I couldn't keep anything in them.

I had actually picked up the Knot Guide to Wedding Planning, or something like that. I really liked it. I mostly used the internet for my planning though.

these are the two I most enjoyed

A Perfect Home Wedding, Inspirations for planning your special day. By Kerry Eielson. Full of checklist, pictures and inspiration. I got quite a few great idea from this book that I didn't find mentioned in others.

Intimate Weddings, Planning a small wedding that fits your budget and style. By Christina Friedrichsen. Absolutely an esential book, it covers everything. It makes you think about what you really want, and gives practical tools to get there.

I also liked

The Everything Wedding Book. Another book to help you know that you have thought of and taken care of EVERYTHING!!!

When I first got engaged, I found that since I am a bride on a budget, the book: How to Have and Elegant Wedding for $5000 or Less by Jan Wilson and Beth Wilson Hickman had a lot of good information. Our wedding budget is around 10k at this point, but it gives great points on how to begin looking for sites, questions to ask vendors, decorating on a budget (I am doing all candles!! My budget is spent on music, location, and food) and many other things. It is like a wedding Bible!!! You can buy it used on Amazon. Thats where I got mine from and saved like $5. Also, use the internet!! TheKnot.com, TheWeddingChannel.com,Brides.com, WeddingSolutions.com, are all great sites. Also, Google!!! I use the internet for most of my ideas... Good Luck!!
